Mass Effect 2 Overlord DLC announced

PC News | To go where no robot has gone before.
Prior to the release of Mass Effect 2, BioWare made the promise to fans that they would support the game with additional DLC releases to a greater degree than they did for the original Mass Effect. Sticking to that promise, EA and BioWare have announced that a fourth, priced, DLC pack is on the way titled Overlord.

Not one to shy away from a good mystery, Shepard will dig deep into a secret labratory to take on a sinister AI. In a story arc spanning five levels across a single planet, the pack will make use of the Hammerhead hover tank from the free Firewalker pack for planetary exploration, with BioWare promising the release to be less linear than previous DLC missions.

BioWare also took the time to comment on the previously released DLC Kasumi's Stolen Memories, stating that Kasumi was the last additional party member, and that no extra party members will be added in future DLC packs.

Like previous Mass Effect 2 DLC, the release will be made available to both PC and Xbox 360 players, with a date set for sometime next month. Pricing details have yet to be announced, but while you wait you can check out some flashy new screenshots.

I see Geth. I wonder if this will involve Legion and Tali in any way.

I'm hoping Bioware will drop the ol' Mako into one of these DLC packs. I know I'm in the vast minority, but I loved that bouncing Rocket Tank. Even if they let us just drive it around the Normandy's cargo bay I'd be fine with it.

The other DLC really penny and dimed me. I hold little hope that this will be anything different. I miss the good old days of PC expansions where you actually got something sizeable for a third of a full game price.

Sounds good, luckily I didn't uninstall the game after finishing it.

I'm also kinda glad there won't be any new party members. I just don't think it makes sense to recruit a party member for a suicide mission most people have already completed.

Update: Price has been set at 560 BioWare/Microsoft points. No new weapons, just the story. HUB world explored via the Hammerhead. Approximate length of 2.5 hours.

Sounds pretty decent. I still haven't played the Kasumi mission. I think I might stock up all the ME2 DLC as it comes out and then play it all on my second playthrough. Right now there's too many new releases coming out to go back to ME2 any time soon.

This is what I've wanted more than an extra character. Would love if they added Liara's DLC cause I know there making it.

EDIT: Expect Portal references

I've got a hunch Liara's DLC will function as a full sized expansion pack, maybe announced at E3.

Good idea; Kasumi's DLC is completely and utterly pointless if you've already finished, the whole point of it is to give you a new character for the whole game. It doesn't fit in at all as endgame content.

From the sound of this new DLC it should be ok for the endgame, my purchase will depend on that...

Wouldn't it be cool if it was actually based around Liara, rather than Shepard? You can use it to set up ME3, but leave the big numbered releases as Shepard's story, while using expansions to flesh out the world.

(Yes, I was a big fan of how the original Half-Life did expansions. Gordon stays out until the second game.)
