The Weekend Steam - 24/4/10

PC News | Modern Warfare just got cheaper.
A swath of bargains have appeared on the Steam platform this weekend, with most titles seemingly suited to the casual set with games such as Booster Trooper, Fairway Solitaire Mole Control and others of its ilk for sale. Those looking for some gameplay with a little more meat to it can also find something worthwhile in the digital bargain bin with titles such as Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Left 4 Dead 2, Trine or Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - the featured title of this weekend's Steam deal which allows gamers to pick up the game for 50% off.

Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the first Call of Duty title to break away from the World War II setting that previous iterations of the game were entrenched in. In lieu of battling Nazis, players were instead thrust into an engrossing story set in a fictional near-future where a radical leader is brewing trouble throughout the globe. As seen from the perspectives of an American Marine and a British SAS commando, players take part in the conflict which spans many parts of the world including the Middle East, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Ukraine as they embark on explosive missions which are sure to keep your trigger finger clicking away for hours. Aside from an epic single-player campaign, Modern Warfare also included some of the most solid multiplayer gaming around which allowed players to level up and equip themselves with more effective weaponry and perks allowing them to gain a tactical advantage over their foes. We immensely enjoyed our time with the title upon its release in late 2007. You can find our review of the game here.

What's people's opinions on Trine? I might have to grab it at that price.

Trine for $5 = or > steal

Personally, I loved Trine. I pre-purchased it on a whim and got one of the most satisfying indie game experiences I have ever had. Sure it can be a bit unbalanced (the thief is OP) but all up I certainly felt it was worth my $20 so for $5 it is a steal.
Be warned though, the last level is a bit of Mear Circus (see Pyschonauts)
