I was looking at picking it up for the Mac from gametree online, but I just haven't see any reviews yet. Has anyone got it yet and want to make a comment?

Aren't they having all sorts of DRM issues with this game, with reportedly a lot of Australia players unable to play (single player!)?

The Settlers series is basically micromanagement (run the details of an economy, including some complex interdependencies) rather than macro (where you're dealing with entire civilisations). So to make war you need soldiers, which need weapons, which are made by a blacksmith, who needs iron and coal, which are mined in mountains at deposits found by prospectors. The miners need food to work, which might be made at a mill from grain at a farm... and most of those professions need tools, which also require iron and coal (but you normally start with a reserve of tools to bootstrap your economy).

I've bought a bunch of Settlers games over the years, including the original on the Amiga, but Ubisoft will not be getting any more PC purchases from me until they rationalise their DRM.

As in, their current scheme is completely insane. I don't pirate games; I don't play multiplayer; and I will not buy a game that kicks me out (or at minimum freezes up) every time my Internet connection glitches. And which, by the way, will stop working whenever Ubisoft decide to stop support, or go bust.

If you didn't know, it uses Cider, meaning it will run a lot worse under OS X than Windows. But it also means that the disc in stores has the Mac and Windows version on it.

DRM = FAIL.

This is a good game, just like all the settlers titles before it, but i just cant get to like it more than S6...

I have played several cider based versions of games, some have been very poor, but the recent releases that I have picked up - Spore Galactic Adventures and Dragon Age:Origins have run like a dream on my MBP, iMac & Mac Pro.

Yes I would like native versions, but there hasn't been much to complain about. Wouldn't it be nice if these companies were more like Blizzard, bring on SC2 and Diablo 3. Steam on mac should arrive this month icon_smile.gif

There are some decent ports out there to be played, TellTale did a very good job with the Monkey Island Series and CoD4 by Aspyr is great.
