Portal 2 confirmed

PC News | The cake is a sequel.
It's time to hug your companion cubes and rejoice, friends, as Valve has revealed the existence of Portal 2, the sequel to the phenomenal puzzle title released back in 2007.

Those who have played the title in recent days will have noticed the mysterious updates (including a new ending sequence), not to mention the number of teasers that have popped up across the web. Confirmation of the title's existence has been confirmed via Game Informer.

Details on the title are light at the moment, but what we do know is that Portal 2 will be "a stand-alone, full-price retail release" with "new gameplay mechanics, storyline, and some surprising new twists."

Though platforms are yet to be confirmed, American retailer GameStop has started taking pre-orders for PC and Xbox 360 iterations of the title.

Valve advises that Portal 2 will be heading our way this Christmas.

With the amount of effort put into the game to announce the sequel, I have no hesitation buying this as I know Valve will do it justice. I can't wait for some more Portal puzzles to come ^^

It should be great on its own merits!!... I hate whingeing but why do they keep making other games over HL2 episode 3? icon_sad.gif they could at least finish off the story arc of that before they make other games because its their strongest series and people have been waiting a long time for a little bit of closure. icon_sad.gif Then they could take as long as they wanted to make Half Life 3, if they ever do!

Anyway I loved Portal and I'm excited about this either way icon_biggrin.gif Maybe this time it will be a little longer. I'm at least happy its not another boring zombie multiplayer game icon_razz.gif

Perhaps, given events in Ep.2, and the news of Portal 2's co-op goodness... just perhaps... some events need to be established in this upcoming title before Ep.3 can be released?

Full-priced retail? I guess this means Valve doesn't believe episodic is the way of the future anymore.

More Portal is a good thing though

I'd be happy for Portal as just a general puzzle game with hundreds of levels, I don't really care if it has a storyline or not (certainly didn't care about the first ones story) All I want is hours upon hours of mind bending physics based puzzles.

I have a hunch this won't be the case though, although the full price could be a saving grace in this regard.

Also playing Portal while listening to Portal is pure bliss!

Yep.

I for one welcome Portal 2. Extra story, new ideas, and built around a full length game. Yes please. All over my face.
