The Weekend Steam - 6/2/10

PC News | Dry your tears with these savings.
This weekend's Steam deal is locked and loaded, and looks set to keep the first-person shooter crowd happy with gamers able to purchase titles from the Far Cry franchise at 50% off. Gamers can choose to purchase titles singularly or purchase the bundle package which includes both Far Cry and Far Cry 2 for US $14.99 / AU $17.26 / GBP £9.99.

Far Cry 2 moved completely away from the premise set in the first title, instead shifting the action from a lush tropical setting to that of a fictional East-African nation in the midst of a brutal civil war, with players taking control of a mercenary on a mission to assassinate the ruthless arms dealer know only as "The Jackal".

I bought the original Far Cry, it's pretty damn good. A lot better than the Xbox version.

Despite what people say, I really enjoyed Far Cry 2 for the at least the first half of the game.
After that it does get a bit samey and the checkpoints + every single person in Africa wanting to kill you will drive you mad, but it's still worth $10.

I really enjoyed Far Cry 2 when it came out. Next to fallout 3 it was probably my most played game of that year. Something about grand theft Africa had some kind of appeal to me for some reason.

Definitely worth the price of entry steam are offering, just don't expect a flawless experience, cause you aint getting one!

(actually I'm tempted to buy it again to get the steam version. *smack* bad bad!)

Well to be fair, it's still cheaper than retail and comes with a free copy of the original. If you saw that deal in EB...

steam has never been known to be the "go to" source for cheap gaming. Sure from time to time, there's going to be epic sales. You have to realise steam doesn't set the prices, the publishers of the games do.

From what I've seen best price for bioshock for pc atm is from cdwow going for about ~ 48 posted.

Compared to FC1 and FC2, Crysis is the one most appeal to me, but no way my current PC can play it.

Yeah it's **** when they don't charge aussies the standard American price on steam ($49-$59). Not valves fault though, its the publishers decision.

Also you can get Red Faction Guerrilla for free if you pre-orded Metro 2033 (previewed here http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/02/04/on-rails-hands-on-with-metro-2033/). Seems like a nice alternative to STALKER.
