First Left 4 Dead 2 add-on revealed

PC News | The original survivors get set for a trip down south.
Earlier this week, Valve announced the first add-on for its co-op zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2, revealing that the add-on will bring some familiar faces back to the fold when it is released in early 2010.

Dubbed The Passing, this add-on for Left 4 Dead 2 will see the original Left 4 Dead characters travelling down south and interacting with the survivors of Left 4 Dead 2 cast, giving gamers new levels to enjoy on both the PC and Xbox 360 editions of the title.

Setting its sights on a Q2 release, The Passing will fit into the Left 4 Dead 2 timeline shortly after the events of the Dead Center campaign. Set in a small rural town, players will assume the role of the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors as they meet with the characters of the original title.

As well as an additional co-operative campaign, The Passing will include new Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode arenas, as well as introduce a new co-operative challenge mode to the title. The Passing is also set to include a couple of new items in the form of a new melee weapon and firearm.

Valve's Vice President of Marketing, Doug Lombardi, has voiced his excitement at the news, stressing that: "The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign. It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing is targeted a Q2 2010 release for the PC and Xbox 360 systems. Currently no pricing details have been made available.

And that's why PC is better... well that and you can aim! icon_razz.gif

I must be the only person in the world that finds aiming with dual-analogue easier than mouse + keyboard. =P

Have you actually give mouse and keyboard a proper go? Like a few games, and a lot of hours? no one is going to be good at any control scheme straight away, just like I despised duel stick games at first, and I almost wouldn't buy games that used both sticks. Plus take out auto aim in most FPS on consoles and your screwed.

Well everyone is different and has different preferences. icon_cool.gif

I have a lot of trouble with game controllers, in first person games especially I find it very difficult to move around properly and just bump into everything. But its the same on all game types really except to a smaller extent; though I do seem to be getting better with them now. I also get confused sometimes while playing and I forget what all the buttons do, so in times of urgency in a game I might panic and just press everything I can and hope for the best. icon_lol.gif I think it's something to do with the buttons being so close to each other or the way my hands have to positioned when I'm holding one.. But keyboard and mouse seems like second nature when I play a game. icon_smile.gif and this is coming from someone who did not grow up with PC games or knows a lot about PC's in general, but someone who is quite new to gaming and prefers the PC. So yep its all very subjective and there's really no better control method..

I play both frequently and mouse and keyboard wins as it's just a whole lot easier. When playing with a muse I hardly think about it and I have pulled off some amazing stuff with a mouse like split second stuff. (Original Halo on PC I pulled off an amazing no-scope sniper shot from across the map) With a controller it's more about lining up a shot if that makes sense. Still I like playing my console for Single player games mostly. Just cause it's more comfortable

My main issue with controllers is pressing down on the analog sticks when I don't want to. Suddenly swinging a knife just as I'm about to shoot a guy in MW2 is not my idea of fun.

FPSs need to be keyboard and mouse for me. 3rd person games are made for consoles normally. Auto-aim goes a long way to getting the job done but you lose that sense of ownership over your kills.
