The Weekend Steam - 31/10/09

PC News | Modern warfare is so in right now.
If you're one of the few people yet to get their hands on a copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, there is no excuse after this weekend with the weekend Steam deal serving up the Game of the Year Edition of the critically acclaimed shooter for 40% off.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes the popular World War II based franchise out of the trenches and into a modern setting with players seeing conflicts through the eyes of an American Marine and a British SAS soldier as they perform missions throughout Europe and the Middle East. If the story isn’t enough to whet, you’re appetite then the solid multiplayer portion of the game is definitely worth the price of the game alone. Featuring various game modes, and a leveling system that allow you to unlock additional weapons, attachments and perks as you complete certain criteria. Modern Warfare certainly packs a lot of punch for your gaming dollar.

I believe some of these prices are wrong..

Stalker is actually 3.75 USD (Cheaper) in Australia while Modern Warfare is 29.99 USD (More Expensive) in Australia - when you were getting these prices you may have had your country set to US.

Is it possible to buy the game, then download it later on? I'm tempted to get Stalker but only have a few gig a month at present.

^ Yes, it's entirely possible to download it later. In fact, you can download it whenever you like, on any computer you like.

For other content, there's nothing tempting for me there this week, since I don't really have enough time for Modern Warfare.

$26 for CoD4? FFFFFFFFFFF

Edit: Either Jos- Kimberly typo'd or Activision are being absolute f**kwits again. $29.99 USD here. $32 AUD.

Edit: I still love you Kimberly. icon_redface.gif

The original isn't, but I think Clear Sky is. You can only get the original from 3FL or internode.

^Correct. Clear sky is most definitely on GA's server.

$30 for COD4 is really not that great of a deal IMO. It's not so much of a sale, but the price it should be normally now that it's 2 years old. $2.50 for TF2 was much better. icon_biggrin.gif

This site must always get these sales off the website and not the steam storefront. Because the prices always very between regions.

And by vary I mean aussies are always screwed over.

@Benspyda
Not always. Usually the prices are the same internationally. Only Activision really screw us over.

Thanks for the price updates guys, Steam has been a royal cow since I got capped yesterday so I had to rely on the storefront. Yeesh...

I disagree that there's no excuse for not owning Modern Warfare.

I could think of plenty of excuses.

Optus... I bought the game but it's a 5.5GB download and I'm on a 5GB a month plan >.<

Methinks I'll wait for uni to finish so I can leech of the parents internet >_>

Could get a mate to give you steam backup disks of it (or maybe the normal retail PC CoD4 disks would work too, I'm not sure).

I've had formers help me in this way before and helped them back in return. I'm sure there'd be someone willing to help for cost price (disks+postage). I would if you want, but the GA Steam servers are being a pain in the arse atm so it could be another week until I have the game downloaded.

@Esposch
True you can get some good prices off steam. I just bought dragon age off steam for $49.95 which is pretty good.

I may have overreacted lol. I just hate when they charge in US dollar but not the same price as those who live in the US. Like mw2 being 89.99US. WTF!!
