Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath get PC port

PC News | Console exclusive no more.
Years of console exclusivity have been broken with the news, that the Oddworld platformer Munch's Oddysee (a title which launched with the original Xbox in 2001) and the Western-themed bounty hunting shooter Stranger's Wrath will be making their way onto the PC in the near future.

In an interview with Bitmob Oddworld Inhabitants Co-Founder and Creative Director, Lorne Lanning spilled the beans.

"We are in the process of converting Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath to the PC, so that all four of the major Oddworld games will be re-releasing this winter in a package called 'The Oddbox," he explained. "This will be the Abe games, Munch, and Stranger as one package for Steam's digital distribution network, as well as a few other digital distribution outlets."

Currently there is no release date for the project. As for future Oddworld projects, Lanning leaves gamers with this message: "Regarding new material, we hope to have an announcement soon, but I’ve been saying that for awhile now so I’ll just shut up and hope for the best."

Wooooooooooooooo

Awesome news, the Oddworld series was fantastic, and now I can finally try the Xbox versions out too.

Agreed, this is fantastic news. Now I can play Munch's Oddysee properly, as the backwards compatability on 360 with it is terrible, with no sound/voice.

I love the Oddworld series. I remember before I bought the full game of Abes Odysee (my personal favourite) I used to play the demo over and over again. And the opening cutscene always scared me shitless no matter how many times I watched it.

I will be grabbing these for sure.

Strangers Wrath was amazing, one of my fav Xbox games. Such a vast and open ended adventure game.

Would kill to have this released on 360 ala The Orange Box, either as a physical game or just on XBLA. But Steam will do the trick, awesome news.

This is fantastic news. I was always a massive fan of the Abe games, but never had a chance to play the following Oddworld games because I never had an Xbox, and the 360 isn't backwards compatible for them. This is just such unexpected news, I can't wait for this.

Apparently Abe is coming to PSN/XBLA which is awesome too but there was no news of Stranger coming with them. I hope it does though, Stranger was an absolutely amazing game!

Joy! Always wanted to play Stranger as I never had an original Xbox.

Loved the games; Hopefully we get a form of online multiplayer in Stranger's Oddysee. Only time will tell, I guess.

Me too! Played that demo so many times and the intro was definitely creepy.

Sweet! I remember playing the first one on ps1 when I was a teenager and loving it. I was just reading about Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath the other day after the steam sale on the first 2, so this is good news.

I knew it! They were just waiting for me to buy the first two games on Steam before announcing a bundle of all four. I do hope they'll be selling them separately, too.

Awesome news, i hope the two xbox games are optimized for PC rather than just straight up ports. Been wanting to try Strangers wrath for a while now, i have heard good things.

Ah I thought this company died, this is excellent news and hopefully with the added interest in Oddworld they can progress further and release more of the Oddysee Quintology.
