Even more Left 4 Dead content coming?

PC Rumour | Boycotters get a chance to visit Valve and reveal more content is hopefully on the way.
Left 4 Dead 2 may be a stone’s throw away, but it seems Valve are committed in providing more free content for the first titl -; news that should help ease the backlash faced by the developers from some of the L4D community.

While already confirming a brand new campaign, Valve may have new weapons or even a special infected coming as bonus content. The news comes as postings from the L4D 2 Steam boycott page report the recent trip of ‘L4D boycotters’.

According to their Visit to the Valve HQ, in where they were given the chance to talk to the developers and form new opinions about the upcoming L4D sequel, they also discovered more content was coming.

"I can tell you this: it’ll either be a new Special Infected, a new campaign or new weapon(s). It’s definitely one of the three, perhaps more," reads the post.

There has been no official confirmation from Valve on any new content for L4D at this moment.

I don't even understand why the boycott group are given any concessions. Were it up to me their Steam ID's would have been simply barred from purchasing Left for Dead 2. That's what they wanted from the beginning right?
I petition that all those who have joined the boycott group to be barred from buying Left for Dead 2 when it comes out. What’s the harm? They weren’t going to buy it anyway, so why don’t we just give them a hand?
Enjoy your internet activism...
Seriously, shut up and enjoy the products of a good developer.

EDIT:
Apologies for the drunken rant. In the future I will try and avoid posting after drinking copious amounts of rum.

I beat all the people boycotting will end up buying L4D2 when it comes out.

Valve flew the leaders of the boycott to Seattle and showed them all the work that's being done on L4D. They changed their attitude pretty **** fast.

EDIT: yeah, like it said in the article icon_doh.gif

Nic is totaly right, they should be banned from purchasing it, because we all know they would have pre-ordered LFD2 already.

If they care and like L4D series so much so that they will stand to fight for it, surely they will buy the newest one.

Sure.. because alienating yourself from your original fanbase and audience will earn you so much more respect and business. Great strategy! Why not apply more of your amazing business sense and simply have all the boycotters' Steam ID's changed to "pussies" because they disagree with your company? I have no idea why you aren't the head of a multimillion dollar corporation yet making beeeellions of dollars of profit with your open minded approach towards these heinous traitors.

I think Valve did the mature thing and turned hearsay into reality. Now instead or being angry over what is now clearly speculation and assumption, these so called boycotters can have more to look forward to and can change their tune. You know what? They might even make nice with Valve and buy Left 4 Dead 2. Everyone wins. You can't always please anyone, but if more companies adopted this strategy of working with their fanbase, life would be easier for both devs and consumers. Thumbs up to Valve.

^ Naw your totaly right,
When the 360 came out i still didnt budge because my nes was perfectly fine, BUT THEY STOPPED MAKING STUFF FOR IT! , its been about 20 years im still boycotting for more nes games.

Also i have this wierd meat or vegetable in my fridge, not sure what it is now its covered in fungus and stuff , but i think its still good i should eat it because all of my other perfectly good food is just useless waste of fridge space.

Man you should go make millions of dollars by telling people this secret land you live in where things never get old and outdated.

I simply said this..

L4d boycotter's said they will not buy L4D2 because it is not a real sequel , So i agreed that they should be "barred" from buying L4D2

Otherwise it would be hypocritical,
Your obviously still butthurt from our last discussion so you come here trying to pick a fight, sheesh thats sad

Xbox 360 came out in 2006 and the Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1985. On the other hand, Left 4 Dead came out in November 2008 and Left 4 Dead 2 is slated for a November 2009 release. Seeing as the technology is decades apart as opposed to a year apart, your comparison makes little sense. Maybe if you said that the Super NES was coming out a year later and people would be freaking out about their NES being made redundant, I would see your point.

I read that the last time. Again, I say that the notion of barring people from your product due to the fact that they appear hypocritical in your eyes isn't very logical apart from trying to prove a point. Valve took a better road in my opinion and showed them that they won't be abandoning the original once the sequel comes out. By paying for flying out the naysayers at their own cost no less. It seems that everyone felt better as a result. Do you agree with how Valve dealt with things here?

Do all kids think the world revolves around them these days or is it just you? Unlike a certain keyboard warrior, I don't define putting in two cents on a board read by people you've never met as "picking a fight". I enjoy PALGN for the broadminded arguments many people here present.

Sorry, let me rephrase that to "discussion" as it is clear to me that "argument" must mean "picking a fight" to you. As I said earlier in my Private Message to you, it's not worth posting things if you simply mean to insult people or make things personal, so quit thinking people are out to slag you off.

To clarify Jaws, my point was (though I could have expressed it far more eloquently) that 99% of those in the boycott group will buy L42 anyway and that 99.5% of the group's members don't really have any right to try and influence Valve's development strategy.
Sure, I am very impressed with what Valve has done here; it shows that they have a genuine interest in their customers. This kind of attitude towards development is one of the things I love them for. However, I still don't see why a bunch of malcontents, who joined a group whose core tenant they really had no intention of following through with, should be given concessions.
It's great when developers listen to fans, but fans need to understand that a lot of the time they are not in the best position to criticize the developer's choices. We just don't have enough information/experience to put forward valid opinions. I respect and trust Valve, they haven't steered me wrong so far so, thus I was more than willing to pay for L4D2. If I didn't like it I would register my discontent by not purchasing future products rather than trying to strong-arm people who know far more about game development than I do into listening to my half-baked ideas.
