The Weekend Steam - 8/8/09

PC News | It's all indie.
Indie game fans are in for a huge treat this weekend with this weekend's Steam deal giving you the chance to save up to a whopping 75% on top indie game titles. Bargain hunters have the option of purchasing this weekend's deal in either a five-title package - which bundles up digital copies of Blueberry Garden, Braid, Everyday Shooter, The Path and World of Goo with an overall saving of 66% - or the ten-title variety which includes: Audiosurf, Blueberry Garden, Braid, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Darwinia, Everyday Shooter, Gish, Mr Robot, The Path and World of Goo.

The award winning rhythm game, Audiosurf give players the opportunity to delve through their music collection and turns it into an abstract racing track where the objective is to hoon around and collect a whole host of coloured blocks that correlate to the beat of your chosen tunes.

Another hot title on sale this week is the shape-shifting action game, Prototype, which sees players take on the role of amnesia-riddled Alex Mercer as he tries to piece together the conspiracy which created him. Those PC gamers interested in getting Prototype at a discounted price better whip out their credit cards fast as the game is available for 20% off until 13 August.

If I didn't already have Audiosurf, Braid (on 360), Darwinia, Mr. Robot and World of Goo, I'd be seriously interested.

Dam, I wish they had them with a deal separately, cause I own a few of those games in the packs already.

Plus the only one I really want is braid. oh well I may not buy anything from the sales this week. MY GOD!!!

Just purchased it the 10 pack then. The only games I really wanted in it were Braid, World of Goo and Crayon Physics (I already own Audiosurf) but even then I saved $25 US compared to their normal prices.

I'd have loved an option to gift Audiosurf to someone else seeing as I already own it.

Bought the 10 pack, even though I already own Everyday Shooter, Blueberry Garden, Audiosurf & World of Goo (WiiWare).

Mostly wanted Braid, but I also get a bunch of others, and now have more precision on World of Goo icon_smile.gif

I own half of these already. Can anyone tell me if you can gift the ones you already own to others? If so I will be all over this.

No, you can't. As detailed at https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?s=6e4689d700cdddf57cce0d6f86519412&ref=4502-TPJL-2656, you only get copies of games to gift if:
a) you buy a L4D four pack (obviously).
b) you own HL2 or HL2E1 and buy The Orange Box or the Valve Complete Pack.
c) you own HL2E1 or HL2E2 and buy the HL2 Episode Pack.

I'll say this once: those are the ONLY circumstances in which you get extra copies to gift.

I've been waiting for a Braid sale for a long time, but I can't bear World of Goo. I think I'll wait for the PS3 version.

God damn it lol, I was hungover and buying 'Dawn of Discovery' and didn't realise this was still in my cart. Could have made worse accidental purchases but I just re-bought 5 games I already had. Damn you Steam!
