The Sims 3 sells 1.4 million in one week

PC News | Maxis continues to bathe in Simoleons.
EA Games has announced via a press release that The Sims 3 has sold more than 1.4 million copies.

The figure comes just one week after The Sims 3 was released on both PC and Mac worldwide on the 2nd of June, effectively making it the best selling PC launch in EA’s history. EA also revealed that there has been more than seven million downloads of user created content, including Sims, houses and stories. Meanwhile, the iPhone and iPod Touch version has remained at the #1 spot for paid apps on the Apple App Store since launching on the same day.

Wish they would do a Steam release. I almost can't bring myself to buy it in hard copy.

Or in some cases... Start -> Programs -> Publisher Name -> Game Name -> Launch Your Game and then click on Play once the launcher app loads.
Not the Publisher's fault you don't use an up to date Operating System icon_wink.gif

Steam is great, but niche compared to Sims 3. Although there are other EA games available on there, so maybe one day it will happen.

Alternatively, I use quick launch icons in my start bar, so one click and I'm in. What do I win?

you can also create a shortcut on your desktop if that tickles your fancy

xfire will do the trick for me. Scans what games I have installed and then I could just click it on the little icon in the System Tray and they will have a list of games I could launch icon_biggrin.gif . Can do steam games too. That's how I launch my occasional game of Minesweeper.

nikack is giving me a running commentary of what's happening in his game of The Sims 3 (its very cute and interesting). I've only played the first game of the series and now is very interested in getting this game. I' m surprised at how much it changed since the first game.

I just don't like having discs flying around for my PC games. I love the way Steam keeps everything up to date and I know that I will have a digital library of games available for the rest of my life. Doesn't matter if I lose them etc. they will always be there when I need them.

Hopefully they will do the same thing as they did with Spore and if it comes to Steam we will be able to use our hard copy CD keys to get a copy of the Steam version.

Bought a hard copy anyway though. Good game but is anyone else having issues with slowdown/lag? My PC passes the system requirments comfortably but it seems to get a lot of slowdown. Defrag my HD's weekly and cleaned out my registry before doing a reinstall but it makes no difference icon_sad.gif

In addendum to my last post. Steam makes it much harder for my girlfriend to see howmuch money I spend on PC gaming. She is already commenting on my ever expanding console library so the fact that there is probably as many games again on my PC will just be our little secret icon_smile.gif
