The Weekend Steam - 23/05/09

PC News | TF2 shenanigans for all.
This week, Steam's weekend deal is on Team Fortress 2, which has been reduced by 50% to give it a price tag of USD $9.99 (approx. AUD $12.72 / GBP £6.99). In addition, to celebrate the newly released DLC you can play TF2 for free over the whole weekend. Click here to start playing it.

Team Fortress 2 is an online multiplayer game that focuses on team warfare. Teams have a range of classes to choose from including scouts engineers, medics and even a spy unit. It’s important your team utilises a variety of units on the battlefield so you can strategically keep ahead of your rivals. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.

I'm tempted to buy it again for my younger brother now so I can get some Lan going with him.

If you don't own this game yet, there's really something wrong with you.

If you didn't get this game while The Orange Box was $10, there's REALLY something wrong with you.

Maggots!

Am I the only one who likes the new update scheme and the idea of throwing jars of your own urine at people?

Scout update I stopped playing tf2 for a week because there was SO MUCH SANDMAN.

This update? Teams are well matched usually, and as a guy who plays spy as much as possible, the new changes are win.
Logged in first day, went spy, five minutes later I had five achievements.
Win!

Also, ambassador is pimp but according to some people it's broken.
Ambassador is the only new unlock I had :P

As for updates, sure I'd prefer it if duplicates were a bit rarer than new weapons (2 sandmen and 3 backburners for the lose - i despise those weapons).

In addition, go pyro, stand in front of a friendly bow-and-arrows sniper and light his arrows on fire. SO AWESOME.

I think ill get this. Dont know if it will run but its to cheap to ignore.

i'm not sure i like the new way of getting upgrades- 6 hours of playtime over the past few days just to unlock one weapon? seems more time consuming than getting the achievements. i would've much rather had it that every time you completed your teams objective you had a chance to find a new weapon (say30ish% chance).

that way it motivates people to work together to do the objective, and everyone can manage to find items, which i thought was part of the reason for the change in the first place.

This new Idle gametype is amazing.

It's like real life, except you leave your computer on at home when you go off to work/Uni.

It's absolutely amazing how Valve manages to make the TF2 gameplay work across all parts of life.

Yeah, I only wish I had something to do while I leave my computer on spectator mode to unlock items. If only there was some sort of game I could play while I waited, some sort of team based fortress game would be ideal...
I know! I will boot up a second copy of TF2 and play that while the first is set on spectate, that way I will have something to do while I wait for my items to come in icon_biggrin.gif!

I watched a heap of the "Meet the..." videos today and got myself hyped enough to buy it. But being the usual pain in the balls, Steam decided to **** up on me.
Nobody else is having trouble getting Steam to run? I installed it today and went to run it but tells me the Steam network is busy, try again later.

I've been doing it all day, how convenient.

You'd probably get the unlocks you want first on the new account if that's the case. icon_lol.gif

steams been fine for me all day, so it might just be your comp. steam does have a bit of a tendency to do random things though.
