The Crossing on hold?

PC Rumour | Will gamers ever come across The Crossing?
An earlier report from gaming blog Joystiq is citing that work on Arkane Studios' "crossplay" first-person shooter, The Crossing is officially on hold.

This highly-ambitious collaboration between the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic developer and Valve Software intrigued many with its unique "crossplay" feature which would let players jump into the role of an AI character in another player's single-player game.

The report quotes Arkane Studios CEO and Creative Director Raphael Colantonio stating that the project had to be shut down due to financial difficulties. "We ran into an unexpected financial challenge some months ago and we had to put The Crossing. Since then, we shifted our efforts to other very good projects."

Both PC and Xbox 360 releases were planned for the title.
