The Weekend Steam - 16/05/09

PC News | Shooting up Telltale.
This week Steam’s weekend deal is on the popular first person shooter Call of Duty: World at War, which has been reduced by 50% to give it a price tag of USD $24.99 (approx. AUD $33.36 / GBP £14.99). Also on sale until 18 May are Sam & Max: Season One and Season Two, and Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Season One. All three titles have been reduced by 50% to give Sam & Max: Seasons One a price tag of USD $14.99 (approx. AUD $20.01 / GBP £8.49), and the other two a price of USD $17.49 (approx. AUD $23.35 / GBP £9.49).

Building on the Modern Warfare game engine, Call of Duty: World at War returns gamers to the chaotic battlegrounds of WWII. Focusing primarily on the European and Pacific fronts, the game boosts an all-new four-player co-op campaign and an enhanced multiplayer experience including new infantry and vehicle-based action, as well as a higher level cap, new maps, challenges and weapons. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.

Sam & Max is a popular point-and-click adventure game from the people at Telltale Games. Season One takes the freelance police from New York City to the streets of Washington DC as the duo hunt for "a hypnotic nemesis". Season Two centres around the duo investigating a number of time paradoxes which are caused by unconventional aliens. If you were to purchase the episodes individually you’d be looking at forking out USD $44.95 for each season, so it’s really tremendous value. You can be taken to Season One’s download page by clicking here, and Season Two’s download page by clicking here.

Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People is a point-and-click adventure which is based on the Homestar Runner web cartoons. In the game, players take on the role of Strong Bad as he gets up to all sorts of wacky adventures including racing against Homestar Runner in the Tri-annual Race, and competing in a battle of the bands competition. In addition you can interact with other characters from the series and play various mini-games. While the series is primarily aimed at Homestar Runner fans, there’s more than enough charm and humour that will appeal to newcomers. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.

Already having both seasons of Sam & Max on disc, this just left Strong Bad. At $5 an episode, how could I not???

I find it humorous that they've dropped the price of S&M S1 and S2 separately, but not the price of the S1+S2 pack... hope nobody buys that by mistake!
