The Weekend Steam

PC News | Orange you glad you have a Steam account?
This week, Steam’s Weekend Deal will prove very popular among PC owners, as it it’s none other than The Orange Box, which has been reduced by an amazing 66% to give it a price tag of USD $9.99 (approx. AUD $13.82 / GBP £5.66).

The Orange Box includes six games from developer Valve, including Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Portal, Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Team Fortress 2. To be quite frank, the pack is tremendous value when you consider it’s difficult to find on Aussie shelves for less than AUD $50, and if you haven’t already purchased it there’s little reason why you should ignore this sale. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.

There better not be anyone who doesn't already have The Orange Box out there. Seriously... it's a crime in some countries.

I see what you did there. icon_lol.gif

But seriously, that is a a damn good price. I paid $40 USD quite a while ago and remember thinking it was literally THE best value for money you could get..other than the fallout collection icon_smile.gif

Of Orange Box? Well TF2 and L4D get frequent updates. HL2 just kinda sits there and cries.

Woah!

When I bought Portal by itself I was kicking myself shortly afterwards. Now it doesn't even matter. Sweet.

Now I just wish I hadn't swapped computers to a laptop that can't run these games.

I had most of the games, but grabbed it for portal, ep 1 & 2. Orange box on PC > PS3.

maye that it doesnt suck? and is like 1/3 of what you would have to pay for the console version.

No idea about the 360 version, but it defintely blows the ps3 version out of the water. NOBODY plays tf2 online on psn, and even when they do the servers are so laggy, you might as well just not play the damn thing. Compare this to the pc version where your always bound to find at least one game with people in it; if need be I'm sure you could even get some of the irc crew into a friendly game of tf2.

The only reason why anyone would play the orange box on a console is if there comp specs wearnt up to scrath to run it at decent fps. Not to mention the steam version has increadibly frequent updates. As opposed to console. Iirc the 360 version DID get an update; whereas last time I checked the ps3 version still didnt have anything.

I just purchased TF2 3 days ago for $19.99 US icon_sad.gif

Ahh well. I've already got The Orange Box on 360.

I think its time to get an Orange Box... I mean, I have TF2 and Portal, but not Orange Box. If only I could gift TF2 and Portal, sigh icon_sad.gif

^ but that means you're only missing out on hl2 Especially since peggle extreme became a free download a few months ago.
; which in my opinion isnt really that much.

Wow, no wonder I couldn't find Peggle on my steam list. I had Peggle Extreme free from the graphics card deal many months ago icon_biggrin.gif

Peggle Extreme is just the watered down version of the original with a couple of Orange box backgrounds isn't it?

I don't understand why Valve doesn't let you gift extra copies of games to friends. I guess they're hoping the friends will purchase them anyway. It'd be nice if they offered a slight discount at least though. GOG and Stardock seem to do so.

^GOG <3 And at least with GOG there's no DRM on it, you can install it on as many computers as you want.

Peggle extreme was what really got me into peggle in the first place, but I suppose if you're going to be technical, yeah its just peggle with some valve game backgrounds. But they do look nice, shame they didnt flesh it out a bit more.

Held out on this one forever. I now own it! The weekend Steam is definitely one of the best marketing promotions I can remember in gaming.

I should Box your ears for that one. :P

That is indeed an amazing deal, though I think just about everyone I know has it anyone.

Well I'm definitely getting this. I've been holding out for oh so long due to being and absolute cheap arse at the moment but for $10 US you can't go wrong.

I'm getting it almost purely for Portal and TF2, sure I'll play through HL2 eventually but it may be a very long time before I do due to stupid download limits.

It's a bit of an on-going gag. The "Orange you glad" joke was used in the release list articles when the game was initially released. It fell back due to a week delay, so the "Orange you glad" joke appeared in the next week's release list as well.

And now I've continued the horrible pun with The Weekend Steam. Who knows, one day I might see the console versions for $20 and use the tagline "Orange you glad <insert store name here> has an awesome sale?".

I really don't know how the other staffers put up with me. icon_lol.gif
