The Weekend Steam

PC News | A gooey tournament for all.
Things are looking a little gooey on Steam. The Weekend Deal is none other than popular indie game World of Goo, which has been slashed by 75% to give it a price tag of USD $4.99 (approx. AUD $7.79 / GBP £4.24). Also on sale is Unreal Tournament III Black, which is available for USD $11.99 (approx. AUD $18.74 / GBP £8.43) until March 15.

World of Goo is quirky puzzle game which was created by a development team of just two people. The gameplay is fairly simple to pick-up; you basically have to overcome obstacles such as chasms, spikes and hills by building structures made of goo. There are different types of goo balls to utilise which have varying effects, so it's important to experiment with different combinations of goo. In addition you can compete on online leaderboards in a contest to see who can create the tallest goo tower. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.

Unreal Tournament III Black is essentially the full retail version of Unreal Tournament III bundled with the newly released Titan expansion pack. The Titan Pack includes 11 new multiplayer maps for Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Vehicle CTF and Wafare modes, as well as two new gameplay modes in the form of Greed and Betrayal. As an extra bonus, if you feel like trying out the full version of the game, Steam is running a promotion where you can play it for FREE throughout this weekend. Sounds like the perfect cure for those lazy Sundays. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.

For those who have previously purchased Unreal Tournament III on Steam, you'll be pleased to know the Titan Pack is available as a free download. You should be prompted for the download when you log onto Steam and start playing the game.

Alongside Braid, World of Goo is definitely one of the more interesting game concepts out there. It's especially worth it at that price.

I dusted off my UT3 case to register the serial with Steam. Sadly the game still doesn't appeal that much to me. It feels exactly like the last 3 or 4 Unreal games... I've done it all before! =\

Bought World of Goo. Really enjoying it so far. It gets pretty ingenius at points, and I'm only in the second chapter.

Had UT3, but bought world of goo, both very awesome.

Titan kicks ass in UT3, wish more people were playing though it was hard to find good servers over the weekend. Also the greed game mode is great fun with 8+ players, it makes for a really interesting twist on team deathmatch icon_biggrin.gif
