Left 4 Dead is set in an apocalyptic world that has been overrun by zombies. In the game you team up with three other players (either humans or bots) and fight to escape Ground Zero, the heart of the zombie infestation. There are four ‘movies’ to play through, making a grand total of 20 maps to explore 10 weapons to slay the undead. Aside from the main story, there is also a four-on-four Verses mode where four players play as humans trying to be rescued, while the other four are hideous zombie monsters. Spectromancer is a turn-based strategy card game which sees players assume the role of a wizard who is on a quest to put a stop to the corrupt Council of Magic. The game was apparently co-designed by Richard Garfield who was the creator of Magic: The Gathering, and Alexey Stankevich who created Astral Tournament. During their quest, players will have to learn new spells and gain allies to progress, and can choose to duel against CPU opponents or verse players online. Finally, Eschalon: Book 1 is a traditional RPG which is set in medieval times. The game centres around you exploring dungeons and the vast wilderness around you to discover your true identity. Being an old-school, tile-based, turn-based RPG (that’s a mouthful, isn’t it?) in a similar vain to Might & Magic, every action and friendship you make will make a major impact on your journey. It certainly sounds like the faint hearted might want to give this one a miss, it’s strictly designed for old-school gamers. You can be taken to the download page by clicking here.
