Love it! This is why Valve always gets my dollars.

L4D (although a small game) has been one of my favourite multiplayer games recently. Everything else is slow and boring in comparison. Looking forward to more content to continue the zombie mash!

Well the PC crowd were expecting it, but I'm happy for all you Xbox 360 users. Bring on the extra VS maps!

Nice. That's how it should be. Are you paying attention Bethesda?

Left4Dead has kept me enthralled for hundreds of hours since its release, it's just an amazing coop and multiplayer experience.

To think they're already coming out with a new mode and additional maps, AND the SDK (which was overlooked in this article) to help community developments, speaks volumes of Valve's commitment to its fans.

Ok so where is all the free 360 Team Fortress 2 DLC then?
Since there's so much TF2 DLC, Microsoft want valve to charge for it so they can take a cut of the (massive) profit.
Valve want it to go out for free, so there's the roadblock.
It should be coming soon though, they've said progress is being made.

my disc got scratched and its been unplayable but I saw this coming and think its good that they will continue to add stuff after release

It better be free you ****! I've already paid $80 for a shareware game and I remember when that **** used to be free!! ****! This **** better be good. Imo Valve are the most overhyped nerd-bringers of them all! Kinda like Blizzard but Blizzard actually make lots of games and they're actually really good. Valve come out with 1 game or 1/2 a game every 5-10 years and all the nerds **** cream themselves for no **** reason whatsoever.

Wait. What?

Good that it's free, mix things up a bit

Valve make good stuff, L4D was slightly crippled, but considering what you got, and what we are going to get (for free might I add), and the cheaper price at around 65 bucks aus over steam, its damn good value (and a good kick in the pants in the place of co op).

+1 valve.

Good to hear, I've always found Valve to make some brilliant well thought out titles and Left 4 Dead is one of them, maybe a bit short and not as well fleshed out as it could be with thie new DLC and more on the way I'm sure Left 4 dead will be must-buy after this expansion.

Considering Valve's current run with TF2's DLC, I've always been under the assumption that the remaining two VS campaigns would be patched in short order. While we've been waiting a little while longer than I expected, it's nice to see Valve have added something else to the same update.

Now, roll on the remaining class updates for TF2.

I love left 4 dead. Free updates, awesome, sounds fair considering the small amount of actual content in the game, this ones a keeper.

This is why I support Valve, great work guys. L4D is brilliant.

Ok, I've been gone for a while, but this bait was just BEGGING to be taken, so I'll bite. And bite hard. PALGN is too cool a place to allow trolling like that.

I hate it when people just assume they have the right to any and every game for free just because they have a black soul and can pirate it. Games are damn hard work, a horribly risky business, and those who manage to actually produce something that brings smiles to people's faces deserve every damn dollar they charge.

If you truly believe you deserve it for free, as opposed to being grateful that it is free, then you should hand your next paycheck back to your employer. You bought this game wth full knowledge of wht it included - and if they had left it at that, I'd still have had tons of fun with it, as would most buyers. So time to grow up and realise there is no free lunch, this cost time and effort to make (coding games is NOT fun, despite what people believe - sure it's cool, but it's hard and really easy to screw up), and people ain't gonna give you free entertainment. The fact that Valve does this for free is a testament to the fact that they trust in customer loyalty - something I, and most others here, value highly.

Seriously. Maybe it's just my absence for the last couple of months, maybe I just need to rant, but I feel much better now. So, in an odd way, thanks.

(PS - the comparison with Blizzard has got to be th most stupid thing I've ever read. Blizzard has what, 1 big game out now, and plans to split the next cash cow into 3 to make more money. Their games may be fun, but they are FAR more guilty of commercialising their products, and Valve have more games than Blizzard. That post was more fail than our economy).

this is good news for me... i've been thinking about buying this since i just got a new computer, but was put off because of the lack of levels etc.
The levels may lack but in co-op and online, it's different. If you have friends that have that game, it can be worth getting it as the co-op can last a while (many hours until you are bored).

For single-player, it's not worth getting.

... though survival mode may change that. Sounds awesome, can't wait! icon_biggrin.gif

More Versus maps are certainly welcome as well. What would be very cool is like an inverse of the game - you and 3 other special infected have to slowly spread the virus through the city, while the army fends you off/hunts you down. Would probably need more Specfected, but they should add more anyway. Variety is the spice of life. Or death. Whatever. icon_razz.gif

You're tripping mate, the whole point of my post is to point out i've already paid $80 for a game that is worth 1/2 that amount because the 2 extra chapters are 2 chapters that should've been there in the first place but wasn't cuz the game was rushed out the door to make money quickly. So they coded the stages for one mode and didn't for another....hmm what possible reasons could exist for that?! Basically the game is adding absoulutely ZERO **** content!!! How can you be dumb enough to even WANT to pay for that!? So like i'm saying, it BETTER BE FREE because i've paid for the game and all future content as far as i'm concerned because I didn't buy the game under any sort of impression that it would basically have no more than 2 guns and 4 stages which are exactly the same, same structure, same length same weapons, same every **** thing except the textures!

Like I said, nerds will keep sucking valve's **** so why should I get what I paid for, the PC nerds are happy, that's all that matters right? Valve can suck my ****, i'm not buying their **** again!

Yes I had a blast in the first couple of weeks when the game was new to me, the guns were fun to use and it was fun to play....cuz it was a new game. But it took about 2-3 days for it all to start feeling very repetitive and stale and I haven't played it since. I can't remember the last time I paid $80 for a game that lasted me less than a week. Infact NEVER have I done that!

Edit: Oh WOOWOWW survival mode! Same as every other game mode/map/**** whatever but instead you're stuck in the same stupid room!! Yayay!! **** this I should pay another $80 for this! I feel so privellaged.

Quick intelligence test: You see an add for a car that will be release in 2 years time. The car looks pretty impressive. Then, a year before it's sent to market, a few features are cut in order to maintain safety and reliability, as well as general driving comfort. Do you:
a - buy it and expect the same feature set as the original ad?
b - buy it and expect free maintainance?
c - buy it and then whinge because it's been engineered for safety over features?
d - expect the car to be the batmobile.
e - drive the car until it runs out of its first tank of fuel, and then complain that the entire car is wasted and used up.

Sounds to me like all of the above apply to you. Especially c. But especially e.

Now, be mature and don't take this personally. I'm more than hapy to patronise anyone that writes immature rants without any rational basis.

You complain about quality, but include profanity in your post? Ever wonder why noone takes angry people seriously? Calm down and set out a logical, reasonable argument that doesn't sound like it's coming from a 5 year old who dropped his icecream and is bawling for more.

Dude, no one even hinted that this should cost money, merely that Valve don't owe you anything except keeping servers available and fixing bugs. Lack of content (and given the # hours me and many others have spent on this game, there's no lack of that) is not a bug.

There is a big difference between having a tantrum because you failed to read game reviews, and getting excited about the prospect of being given free stuff. It's all about attitude, and the impression I get from your posts is that you will never be happy, and always blame others for that, when in fact petty greed is the cause. Have some maturity, don't be like the billions of people who think they are special because they are hateful cynics that can get emotional about a few dollars. If you had simply posted tha you thought the game lacked value for money (which most of us would agree with in the case of Single Player), you'd be making friends, not enemies. Then, you'd have some people to play multiplayer with. icon_smile.gif

So simple, so why not quit being the harbinger of doom, and realise that ultimately, games don't make you happy - YOU make you happy. It's your happiness, and if you're going to approach every opportunity in life with the view that it's a scam in disguise, good luck to you. Time to relax a bit, and instead of pointing fingers at the first sign of trouble, get creative and look for ways around the problem. Like trying multiplayer. I've probably gone will over 50 hours in the last 2 months in Left 4 Dead - that's about $1.50 an hour. Helluva lot cheaper than a good movie.

Yea you bit that one alright.
It's called Schadenfraude. Seeing the misery of others makes you happy. And you, good sir, are one miserable being, at least when it comes to L4D. Of course, I would still prefer it we were all happy, whichis why I urge you to examine why you got so ramped up about a single game. The facts about the gam are out there, so if you really cared about that $80, you have no excuse for not doing some research. And if you did, your real issue is not with the game but with the marketing/journalists.
So you whole post is about my attitude and you comparing game purchases to car purchases? God, what a waste of time.

I couldn't care less about the language used or the manner it's used it's the point people are making. Maybe you have trouble sleeping at night when someone's had a go at you on the internet but I seriously couldn't care less. My advice to you is to stop hanging on the little details of everything and actually address the problem at hand.

Fact is as a consumer i've overpaid Valve for what I believe is a crappy product and i'm entitled to post my comments on that. And for the record i'm not amped up, ramped up, arked up or whatever...it's just the way I post. Infact I only post from work and I can very easily work and post at the same time. My work is never affected by it.

Look you have you preferences and I have mine, personally you have no business commenting on mine so your whole rebuttal has been a waste of time. I couldn't care less what you think of my attitude or the way I post, that's really not the issue here.

Oh dear, i'm all miserable n ****! Yea i **** love my life! The best part is I don't get all hung up on useless **** like you do.

The issue I have is definately with the game! Valve are supposed to be one of the industry's best devs and they come out out with basically what is episodic content which is in all honesty not good enough for me. I want full games not multiplayer components or chapters of a full game. Left 4 Dead is basically a multiplayer game only with the single player aspect being the multiplayer minus real opponents. For $80 I should've gotten more and I am entitled to more as this is rip-off. If Valve don't wanna sort that issue out for me....like i've said i'm no longer going to continue to buy their products, I really don't see this is any of your business and you should just stay out of it.

In other words your last couple of posts have been useless.

I don't mind the single player, probably the only person on earth, i find half the fun is working around the retarded decisions the computer players make, Although the last level of no mercy on expert with the computer players, is freaking hard.

Is this not what you were expecting? Valve weren't exactly hiding that the single player was just the multiplayer campaign with bots.

It might be a rip-off, but you got exactly what you're entitled to: Left4Dead for better or worse. There's no statute of rights for games purchases that entitles you to a completely separate single player and multiplayer campaign. All's I can suggest is that you refrain from purchasing Team Fortress 2 as it's multiplayer ONLY =)
