The Sims 3 delayed

PC News | Pushed back to June.
EA Games has announced via a press release that their highly anticipated simulation PC game, The Sims 3, has been delayed until June this year.

The Sims 3 was originally scheduled to be released later this month, so we know there will be quite a few casual gamers who’ll be sighing to this news. EA hasn’t confirmed the reasons for the delay, instead only releasing the following statement:

“The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3,” said Russell Arons, Vice President of Marketing for EA. “The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness with both loyal Sims fans and new players.”

It’s not all bad news though, its been confirmed that The Sims 3 will also be heading to the Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch and mobile phone platforms in Summer (or Winter for Australians) this year. To tide you over until then, EA were kind enough to release some new screenshots of the PC version, all of which can be found in the media panel below.

ARGH, dam it I was so excited! well it will still be worth the wait!

The wait won't change the game, if you read between the lines on the press release they're just using the extra time for marketing (and so they can declare the earnings from Sims 3 in the next financial year instead of this one)

Actually I believe the delay is so the (hopefully) Cocoa/Cocoa Touch versions can be released simultaneously with the PC version. As there have been replies denying release on anything other than PC at this stage from EA reps.

You are mistaken, I just listened to the pres release from EA and the reason for the delay is that they want to expand marketing to push up the sales of the game.

They also pushed back Godfather II till next year as well as a couple of other games. They lost a lot of money in the last financial year and this is their way (or belief on how to) of getting their money back.

To settle any arguments, the delay has NOTHING to do with bugs or Touch versions. Only marketing and money.

im pretty sure that due to the sims being one of the most damn popular games out there, that more marketing wont help it that much...
