Strictly available for the PC edition of the game, Uprising will be made available via digital distribution and will be a standalone expansion, meaning that players will not require Red Alert 3 to be able to play the game.
This expansion is said to contain four 'mini-campaigns' which will give players an extra handful of missions for the three warring factions of the title as well as one mini-campaign which gives players the option of taking on the role of Yuriko, a commando for the Empire of the Rising Sun.
Uprising will also introduce a new feature called 'The Commander's Challenge'. This game mode will test even the mightiest of Command & Conquer veterans as it pits players against nine AI commanders of varying difficulty with a variety of challenge matches - fifty in total - that contain their own specific rules and regulations.
Uprising will also feature more of the schlocky cinematics that the franchise is renowned for, which will see the return of Red Alert 3 actresses Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic, as well as currently unannounced new talent.
EA LA Senior Producer Amer Ajami says the expansion is being built according to feedback that has been provided by the Red Alert 3. "We're giving gamers more of what they want – more of the fast, fluid and fun gameplay, more of the story we began to tell in Red Alert 3 and more cutscenes featuring top-notch Hollywood talent. At the same time, we're excited we're going to be able to bring new things to the mix, including new units and the Commander's Challenge, which is a great way for players to hone their skills and get deeper into the combat."
So far no price point has been announced for the title, though more details are expected to come to light in the near future as the Uprising will be heading to PCs sometime in March.
