PC News | Does your setup make the cut?

The full list of requirements can be found below:

Desktop PC – Windows Vista with Service Pack 1:

CPU: Pentium IV 2.0 GHz / Athlon XP 2400+

Woot, now I can tell my sis her lappy can play The Sims 3.

At uni, we talked about the Sims and our experience. It was mainly how we torture those poor guys. Memories....

As long as the Mac system requirements are the same, I'm safe. I told my sister the iMac will definitely be able to run The Sims 3.

Hasn't been announced for the Mac and if it's not a simultaneous launch like SPORE, expect a two to three year delay as Aspyr port it across. If it is simultaneous, expect it to run like crap and have stupidly high system requirements.

I wasn't sure of a date, so I just looked at EB Game's website. They said March so I just put that date in there. I'll change it to Q1 2009.
The Sims 2 was what made me give up on PC gaming. Not because it was bad or anything, but because it was 'final straw' so to speak. Over the years, 90% of PC games I've bought either haven't run or have run poorly on my various computers. I remember walking an hour into town, buying it, then walking an hour back home only to find it wouldn't load up past the logo screen. I spent the rest of the night trying to figure out what went wrong to no avail.

Those requirements are surprisingly low, even my old P4 out the back would make the grade on that. Of course, it'll probably be a bit of a slide-show at those requirements (as always). Looks like Maxis have cottoned on to the fact that the Sims' largest audience would likely be casual gamers, ie, those who don't have powerful gaming PCs.

I'll certainly be buying it eventually, the Sims 2 was an addictive little game.

My sister'll be pleased, I'll probably play a little bit of the game myself, but I doubt if the computer will be unoccupied for the next six months.

My sister and my girlfriend will be playing this game.

As will I. What is it with young women and these games? It's like cat nip to them. (generally speaking of course, my mother hates the sims, but plays Neverwinter Nights and other RPGs religiously icon_razz.gif )

I can meet those requirements but will be leaving this until after May since I'm hitting Orlando with a friend. Buying this and other games will just make saving up harder ... the bad state of the Australian dollar vs US dollar makes it hard enough icon_sad.gif
