GTA IV PC release date pushed back

PC News | PC gamers have to hang on a little longer.

It looks like PC users will have to wait a little more for a piece of IV with the release of the PC edition of Grand Theft Auto IV being pushed back until December.

The title is now scheduled to debut during the all-important holiday shopping period, with a targeted release date of December 2 for North American gamers. Currently, there is no official release date for PAL territories.

Rockstar also took the opportunity to post the game's system specifications, giving players an idea of what will be required to take on the graphical enhancements of the PC edition without making your PC cry. The specifications are as posted below:

Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space
Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900

Recommended System Requirements:

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista) 18 GB Free Hard Drive Space
Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870

Is this supposed to be coming on dvds, blu ray, flash sticks (what I want to see) or what?

Bah! Oh well, it's only a shortly extended wait, compared to how long we've waited since the console version was released...

Those recommended requirements are pretty huge... triple or quad-core CPU - there won't be too many people with those at this stage. I think i'll be struggling with my AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.0Ghz and NVIDIA 8500GT graphics... I have to convince the wife I need a new video card!

GTA IV needs 18GB of HD space-wow! (that's 4GB more than one of the MS games I play), and close to the Orange Box (20GB).

Wow what a Ubisoft-esque port. There is no excuse for requirements like that when the game can fit on a DVD9 on the 360. This better be the damn best port in the past couple of years if it's going to have requirements like that.
