Spore expansion on the way

PC News | Spore turns creepy and cute next month.
A product listing on theUS Electronic Arts Store has revealed that an expansion pack is on the way for Spore, titled the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack.

The product listing carries a release date of 18th November, and it sits on a price tag of $20 US. Currently, there is no mention of the expansion on the Australian portal of the EA store, nor has it appeared on the European store website, leaving gamers to ponder about when it will hit our shores.

Details on what the pack will contain are also light at the moment, though we can speculate that creepiness and cuteness will ensue.

PALGN will keep you updated on the expansion of the Spore universe as more information surfaces.

Damnit, I was hoping they didn't do what they did with The Sims. This sucks.

How about they fix the issues in the frst game before releasing more crap?

i'll pick it up if it mixes up the gameplay a bit, and fixes the (non)evolution in the creature stage. that ticked me off so much, that when you adjust your new borns appearence, everyone in the race changes.

Please let there be different environments on planets now. I want to knock snow caps off mountains with my ship.

I just want to obliterate planets with different climates. Makes me feel like a big man.

How does EA do it? It's like they are reading my mind and doing everything I think they shouldn't icon_sad.gif

Firstly; I'd call this an add-on pack, not an expansion.
Secondly; it's EA, and all they seem to do is first break something; then churn out stuff to 'add on' or 'expand' the game.
I still want the amphibian stage damn it. Where'd it go??

Kinda sad that even before Spore was released I was saying they'd do this icon_sad.gif

You mean pouring tonnes of money at cool new unique IP's with interesting new gameplay mechanics?

You're right, those bastards.

I mean yeah Spore was kind of a let down and the DRM sucked, but EA Pumped a **** load of money and advertising into a completly unknown and a new inovative idea.

As previously reported, the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack will be available for PCs and Macs beginning November 18. The add-on will include in excess of 100 new creature-building parts that will fall in line with the titular theme. The parts, available in the game's Creature Creator, include components for the body, as well as paint options, animations, and backgrounds.

Spore's first full expansion, which EA is currently referring to as the Space stage pack, will arrive in spring 2009. The expansion will give space-borne civilizations Star Trek-esque teleportation technology, letting players beam down to distant planets and undertake new missions. The expansion will also add in the Adventure Creator, which will let gamers build and share their own missions. EA did not reveal pricing information for the Space expansion.

Ah EA. We live in an ever-changing world, fraught with Credit Crises and Environmental Disasters, yet there is one thing we can always count on as rock-solid knowledge; if EA can create expansion packs, they will do so as fast as possible.

Personally, I feel like expansion packs are like a second spouse; it's ok to move on, but if you do it too soon, it's distasteful. In this case, the old bride isn't even in the casket yet (or, as it happens, it may well be, given the massive failure of DRM to improve sales).

When will EA realise that hollow expansion packs neither add to their games nor satisfy consumers? More importantly, when will consumers realise this?!

Maxis came up with the ideas and put in interesting and new gameplay mechanics, EA was pumping in the money to dumb it down and nerf the innovation so the rest of EA's bland games catalogue wouldn't look so bad by comparrison and so they could add them in later at an over inflated price to the consumers icon_wink.gif

so the dumbed down features were more parts for your creatures?

I didn't say that EA came up with the idea, but they were the ones that were prepared to put there money into it. I mean **** they're putting money behind Suda 51's new game, you can't honestly tell me with the games they're putting out now that they arn't changing.

Yeah EA used to suck but they're seeming more and more awesome latley.
