Secret BioWare-LucasArts project unveiling Oct 21

PC News | KOTOR MMO to be announced?
Earlier this week, a number of media outlets including CVG received an invitation from BioWare and LucasArts. Plastered in very large text on top of the invite is "The wait is over", over a picture that is reminiscent of Star Wars. Turning over, "LucasArts and BioWare invite you to attend the official unveiling of the game that has been rumoured for years" is written on the other side. October 21 is listed as the date when the secret project will be announced.

Though there isn't any specific mention of a new Star Wars game, many believe the invite refers to the rumoured Knights of the Old Republic MMO. Adding fuel to the fire is EA CEO John Riccitiello's confirmation in July that a KOTOR MMO is indeed on the way from BioWare.

The original Knights of the Old Republic was a role-playing game developed by BioWare set in the early years of the Star Wars universe. The KOTOR MMO, said to be in development at BioWare's second studio in Austin, would be the second online Star Wars title, after Star Wars Galaxies.

I dont know what's wrong with me. Im a Star Wars nut and I totally lost interest in Knights of the Old Republic to the point of uninstalling it and not bothering. I guess the characters didnt grab me? I put in a fair amount of time to give it a go and got up to the level after Mission Vao joins your team.

Just didnt do it for me whatsoever. I suppose the overwhelming positive hype behind it set my sights too high..

I wonder how long before Sony sh*tcans the rubbish Star Wars: Galaxies after this is released..

MMOs have never been my thing, but I hope this gives fans of KOTOR what they want.

I like Jedi Academy, it would be better for an MMO.

I really don't see this KOTOR MMO will really work. If KOTOR III is a MMO, i will be very upset.

But could anyone imagine the MMO set during the MAndalorian Wars? I reckon that would be the only way this game would have success, and draw my attention.

I played both KOTORs to death and loved them. I will be a little miffed if it turns out MMO, but if they do a good job, I might just join the MMO world.

This I don’t understand. While I’m not a big StarWars nut, I loved KOTOR. For me it was a phenomenal game, not just a great StarWars game.

The only other StarWars titles to rival it, in my opinion, are Dark Forces II, X-Wing Vs Tie-Fighter, and Rogue Squadron 2.

No doubt this will be an MMO. Its been rumoured to be so for far too long now, and BioWare are due to dip their RPG stick into that broth. I'm not looking forward to it if that's the case. I'm not interested in MMOs, and would much prefer a single player story driven KOTOR.
