Codemasters unveils FUEL

PC News | Another racing title in the works.
Following on from their latest racing title GRID, Codemasters has unveiled that they will be publishing a brand new open-world racing title which is promising to be the "largest racing environment to appear in gaming - ever".

This new game, titled FUEL, will be coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms in 2009 and will be developed by French developer Asobo Studios.

The premise behind the game is that it is set in an "alternate present" where the world has been ravaged by the effects of climate change. Codemasters boast that FUEL will contain a 5,000 square-mile playing area with "no boundaries" and 16-player racing.

The ambitious-sounding racer is said to feature a dynamic weather system (with players set to experience tornadoes, sandstorms, thunderstorms, lightning strikes and blizzards) and a full day/night cycle.

FUEL is scheduled for release at an unspecified date in 2009.

Could be cool...

Looks like they're borrowing or expanding on ideas from racing games done right, ala Burnout Paradise.

COOL

..

well i thought it was clever. Sounds decent, but i'm really only attracted to the "customise it your way" style of car creation - as obviously seen in NFS games.

Wish better developers (such as CodeMasters) would "borrow" the concept and build on it.
