TF2 Heavy update to be rolled out next week

PC News | Mark Tuesday 19 August in your calendar.
According to Valve, the biggest update to the team-based multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 will be coming to PCs next Tuesday.

This time around the Heavy class gets a makeover, with the inclusion of 35 new class-specific achievements for players to work through in order to procure the Heavy's unlockable goodies. Valve has given a sneak peak at the Heavy's new melee unlockable - the 'Killing Gloves of Boxing' (alternatively known as the K.G.B.) which allows players to receive five seconds of guaranteed critical hits everytime they kill an enemy with the K.G.B.

As well as the changes to the Heavy class, this TF2 update will come jam packed with seven new maps, as well as an all-new game mode.

The first map revealed for the update is the community made cp_steel, which will be available alongside a new map for the 'Payload' game type which is said to be "focusing on more open spaces than Goldrush." The final five maps of the update will be dedicated to the as yet unknown new game type.

While there is less than a week away until the update hits our PCs, keep your eyes tuned to the official Team Fortress 2 page each day as Valve will be releasing new snippets of information about the update.

It's a shame that they don't fix up the PS3 version.

*sighs*

I'm under the belief Valve has nothing to do with the PS3 version apart from owning the IP.

Looking foward to it, I've been waiting for the heavy update ahile now, all that I really want now is the spy's update, that should be awesome although the rest will be great too.

See Nikack's post.

I'm pretty sure it comes down to EA, who handled the ports to the 360/PS3.

Valve did the 360 version themselves but as I heard they are still sorting out how to implement the updates on the 360 as they dont want users to pay more for the extra content.

Oh how the tides have turned, it wasn't long ago the console fanboys would rag on the PC for it's many patches but look how they beg and plead for the PC patch goodness icon_wink.gif

I think "patch" is stretching it! It's the new maps, achievements and weapons I want. That's new content, not a patch.

Alot of game patches on PC add new content, it's the sign of a good game/developer, and you can't have the new content without new code and new code means a patch icon_wink.gif

I think PC "fanboys" are just trolling now. I've seen several threads now derailed off topic because of it.

Anyway these patches are adding content that should of been in the game initially. Rolling these class updates one by one disrupts normal gameplay. Though by saying that, when the Spy update hits it should be quite amusing being a pyro icon_wink.gif

Just don't mark it on your Australian calendar as Tuesday. Or with anything permanent, if the other updates are any indication.

The heavy blog site is quite awesome though, provides something to increase the HUNGER. Must have new content now!!
