GTA IV PC dated for Europe

PC News | Australia to follow?
Rockstar has today confirmed what the gaming world has long suspected - Grand Theft Auto IV will indeed be coming to the good old PC, and it will be happening in November.

North America will be the first to receive the port on the 18th, with Europe following shortly after on the 21st. There's been no word of an Australian release date as of yet, but you can be sure it won't be too far behind.

We reviewed Grand Theft Auto IV on the PlayStation 3 when the game was released a few months back, and we thought it was rather good, to say the least.

The game has since gone on to sell lots and lots and lots of copies, and was removed from sale in Thailand earlier this week.

GTA IV really is a great game.. i finished it on the PS3 and it took a loooong time. I know a lot of people are now over the hype, but if you havent already played it; get it.

It's probrably going to be on steam too. Hopefully it will be american priced. Nice and cheap.

Sounds good to me. I have never played a GTA game on PC. For those who have is it worth getting a controller, or is the keyboard + mouse setup usually been pretty good for the past titles?

So much for it being a console exclusive. I might get it if Crossover emulates it, and if some good mods are released.

^ It was never going to be a console exclusive, all GTA games have been on PC; in fact, GTA1 was released on PC first.

Certainly looking forward to modding the crap out of this though, had so much fun with SA online. Hopefully they'll make user-created online multiplayer faster using the mechanics already in the game.

I would certainly pick up a controller if not primarily to help you with the aiming system which just didnt cut it for me on the keyboard and mouse. ou can get tons of USB gaming pads out there emulating the console ones, or simply grab a 360 wired controller which will also do the trick.

Seriously? I could never get into the previous GTA titles on the consoles because I found the lock-on system used to overcome the comparatively poor speed and accuracy of aiming with a controller to be frustratingly bad. Playing on the PC, with the freedom of a keyboard and mouse combo, was an absolutely breeze. In fact, sometimes too much so! It really showed that the game had been tailored to the consoles when just freeing up the input like that made the combat so much easier.

The flying though? Hands down better on a controller - sucked hard with keyboard and mouse.

Eitherway, I find the new lock on sytem to be vastly improved and rather intuitive, so being able to play with the keys + mouse will only be a nice bonus. What I'm really looking forward to is being able to tweak the graphics (increased draw distance? Hells yes!), and all the mods that'll come out for it.

Yeah probably. And will probably also not be available in Australia through Steam like the other GTA titles on the service already.

What's the **** point of digital distribution if you're still going to discriminate based on location?

^ Completely unrelated but that's actually a regular stack... at least where I work.
