E3 2008: EA teases gamers with The Sims 3

PC News | New trailer shows off just how big The Sims world is getting.
Since Electronic Arts, announced the game's existence earlier this year, all has remained on the quiet front in terms of new tidbits on the follow-up to the all-time greatest selling PC franchise - The Sims 3, until now.

EA has today release a new trailer which shows that the scope of The Sims 3 looks to be widening, with an emphasis on going beyond the single household approach of previous titles in favour of a 'whole town approach'. The trailer depicts a Sim who has just discovered that there is a whole town right outside his front door, which he ventures out of to discover a town full of Sims exercising, jamming on their musical instruments and flirting with each other.

While the graphics of The Sims 3 don't seem to have vastly improved over those at work in The Sims 2, the impressive lack of pesky, blue load screens more than makes up for it, as you can seemingly venture around town without having to wait for the game to load up the next area.

While it may seem to be encroaching on SimTown territory, this significant gameplay change may prove to reinvigorate the series which has largely remained the same since its debut in 2000, and open up the door for another generation of gamers to experience the world of The Sims.

Wouldn't that just be Sony stealing stuff from other consoles? You've been pretty vocal about how thats a negative thing.

If we put Elf Bowling on the PS3 would you buy it? Because that seems to be the way you roll.

Weird, it seemed to be working when I tested it earlier. I tried a different link so it should definately work this time.

Thanks for the heads up. icon_biggrin.gif

@benza:

no not necessarily if EA want to put the Sims 3 on the PS3 which is pretty likely considering that EA release all there titles on multiple platforms.

Not Sims they don't. You'll just get a spin-off of some kind, not the proper thing.

Too bad the Sims games suck on consoles. The main attraction of the Sims is the almost infinite customisability, you won't get that on the PS3.
