Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II officially announced

PC News | A new dawn.
THQ has officially confirmed Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II is on its way to the PC in 2009. Relic, the developers of the original Dawn of War title and its expansions, are currently hard at work on the sequel.

Dawn of War II will feature a fully co-operative multiplayer campaign and will also include reworked visuals as well as bundles of destructible environments. Additionally, the game will support Direct X 10.

Dawn of War II may not be out until next year, but those who pick up the Dawn of War expansion, Soulstorm will have the opportunity to participate in an upcoming multiplayer beta test. We expect the first images of the sequel to be released shortly, so when they are we'll report back.

I have Soulstorm, but I doubt the multiplayer beta will be any good for me, since Dawn of War online takes after Starcraft (ie who can rush the fastest).

Same with LAN's, although not as much depending on the races and how cheesy you want to be, since DoW allows you to be an annoying jerk with Eldar where the opponent requires an infiltrator to even see you whereas Starcraft was really just about macro and praying to god that you had the base and units when going against a zerg player. Of course, I've only used the DoW online a couple times, since gamespy arcade really irked me.

Anywho, le sigh for now needing an upgrade for a title I must have.

Actually I've found that most Eldar players are dead before they can even get that technology researched. Hero spam is annoying, but you've got to have one built to counter any enemy heroes that come into your base.

I admit it is tricky to get it done in time, much easier in FFA's since you can dance with a Farseer, lure away from one base into another and then vanish via a webway (as I personally like outliers for fake relocations and mass troop movements) but the research itself is cheap enough to get done relatively quickly if you prioritise the stealth over the troops, since guardians are weak as hell to use as anything except resource cappers.

Tau might not be in it till an expansion. I think there will only be three or four races to begin with.

Confirmed:
Space Marines
Orks

Virtually Confirmed:
Tyranids (They were impossible to do with the first engine and they were the #1 demanded race for the expansion packs)

Possible other races:
Eldar (Were in the original starter, but also to even up the good races)
Chaos (Were in the original starter)
Tau (Highly popular race and would even up the good races)
