Lord of the Rings Online expansion announced

PC News | Time to explore the Mines of Moria.
It's been fairly inevitable since day one that The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar would spawn numerous updates and expansions in the same style as World of Warcraft. LOTRO has been a critical and commercial success since it was released a year ago, and players of the game have been waiting anxiously to get some information on the first big expansion to the game.

Yesterday, it was announced that the expansion will be called the Mines of Moria, and will include several new features that will be added to the already incredibly detailed MMORPG. As well as heavily expanding the story (it will include six new books to play through on top of the already available 12), the expansion will increase the level cap from 50 to 60 and will also introduce two new classes; the Rune-keeper and the Warden.

While there is nothing more specific about the new features available at this time, players are encouraged to visit a website to unlock the secrets of the Mines of Moria, which will give them info on the expansion as well as the opportunity to wield special in-game items only available via exploration of the site, which will officially kick off later this month.

Keep an eye out for more information on The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria, expected for release sometime later this year.
