World of Warcraft still stupidly popular

PC News | Over 10 million subscribers now.
Blizzard have announced that their all-conquering MMORPG, World of Warcraft, has just topped ten million subscribers. That is a whole lot of subscribers.

Of these subscribers, the vast majority - 5.5 million to be vaguely exact - are located in Asia. By comparision, North America has over 2 million subscribers, while Europe is around the 2.5 million mark. As you would expect, this is rather pleasing for the folks over at Blizzard.

"It's very gratifying to see gamers around the world continuing to show such enthusiasm and support for World of Warcraft," said Blizzard head honcho Mike Morhaime.

"We're always pleased to welcome new players to the game, and we're looking forward to sharing the next major content update with the entire community in the months ahead."

World of Warcraft hit shelves in 2004, and its popularity has only grown since. The first expansion pack, The Burning Crusade, quickly shifted 2.4 million copies on release day to become the fastest selling PC game of all time. If that wasn't enough, there's another expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, on the way soon. Sheesh.
