Designed as a new entry in Nintendo's Touch! Generations series (think Big Brain Academy and Picross DS), Wii Chess promises all the trimmings of any chess game worth its salt this century, including an artificial intelligence that marketeers claim has beaten some of the world's best chess players, but also (and more importantly), an online multiplayer mode through the Wii's Wi-Fi Connection capabilities.
No mention has been of any Wii Remote functionality added to the proceedings, although one can only assume that some form of basic pointer functionality will be present.
A budget price point and a release day of January 18 for Wii Chess has been confirmed for Europe, with details for Australian Wii Kasparovs yet to be confirmed.
