Brawl not set for release in Europe before June 08

Wii News | Mario Kart coming first?
Yesterday Nintendo UK sent out an updated release schedule for the UK which went right up to June 2008, with one title noticeably missing from the release schedule, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

VideoGamer.com contacted Nintendo who has revealed that even though Brawl is out in a few months in America the game won't be out until June 2008 in Europe. PAL releases are generally dictated by when Europe gets a game, so it's likely Australia will suffer the same fate.

The Nintendo spokesperson said: "If the game is not listed on the schedule up until the end of Q2 it is currently not due out until after that time."

On the plus-side, Mario Kart for Wii is currently scheduled for Q2. We'll keep you updated on any new Australian release information we receive.

Nooo! That's it, I'm getting a U.S Wii. Being a PAL gamer sucks, and things like this make it even worse.

Yeah, I've been considering the switch to a US Wii lately... this may just be the tipping point.

that's a HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGE delay.

what a joke.

And nintendo make more money than sony and microsoft and they can't get similar release dates for all regions? ridiculous.

Agreed - Id get a US wii too (if there were enough compelling games on it). I am interested in Trauma Center New Blood but there's a three month delay.

FFS, not another bloody PAL delay. I was really looking forward to it too icon_sad.gif

I cannot fathom how there can be a four month gap for any game these days. They've proved in the past (SMG) that they can release a game worldwide within a few weeks, this just shouldn't happen.

This is a disgrace! It makes it even worse that Nintendo are so against importing from other regions. We wouldn't need to if Nintendo Australia were half competent.

It's not an RPG, surely there couldn't be that much text that it would take almost half a year for translation!

First they keep giving us **** PAL VC ports and now they are delaying games without good reason.

After I clock Mario I think I will be switching for a PAL Wii to a US NTSC one.

**** you Nintendo Australia/Europe!

Crikey this is shocking. Even thoe i have 2 wii's a pal and ntsc. My pal one has collected many layers of dust but my ntsc has got some good loving icon_smile.gif. If i was everyone i would sell there pal wii and just get a ntsc and power converter than bingo your set.

Meh. There will be a million 360 games worth playing from now till then. Plus i still need to clock a few Wii games. No biggie.

Time to get a-chippin', I believe. There's a shop next to work that sells 'em, I might just take a closer look on Monday...

Yeah i agree this sort of behaviour by Nintendo really makes people either import or get a chip. They have only themselves to blame for it imo.

And yet I find an article from less then 4 months ago from Nin. AUst. that they are "working through the issues to ensure no more then a 2 week delay" in releases. I KNEW buying the PAL wii in time xmas (galaxys' 10/10 and the okami announcment prompted the conversion) would be a mistake. I should have waited till I could import one (after all we are waiting for the games..they had SO better release PAL Okami...................)

Well all they said is that there are "no current plans", i.e. game isnt on the list yet. The list for Q2 looks quite empty at the moment, so it could still release before June.

I'm not going to hold my breath though. Whats more concerning for me is the lack of Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, since that game is you know already out in Japan and US! Though OFLC did recently classify FE, so thats a start I guess..

This does not sit well for me

Hopefully the Dojo will give us some info on a more solid release date, like it did when mentioning the delay from Dec to Feb for Brawl in the US & January for Japan....

It better not get a massive delay like that, or Mario Kart better be pretty dang awesome!

You've gotta be sh*tting me right?

Seeing as Nintendo is as keen as any company to earn people's money, I would love to know what exactly the REAL hold up is.

One of the worst things about this delay is the spoilers! icon_eek.gif The Americans will be going on about all the things that are in the game, and we'll still be waiting. We'll probably know all of the characters before the game even comes out here. icon_sad.gif

Spoilers? It's a fighting game with Nintendo characters from entirely different fictional universes! It's no Final Fantasy or Zelda.

Half of the fun of playing Melee for me was the fact you could unlock trophies and extra previously unrevealed characters, so i'm sure that's what Addy is talking about and I agree, though it shouldn't be too difficult to avoid them.

I'm not too concerned about spoilers, hell the Dojo has told us way more about the game this far from release than is usual. Unless there are any other 3rd party or major newcomers to be revealed (I'm looking at you Capcom, please put in either Phoenix Wright, Megaman or Leon S Kennedy), we know most of the surprises thus far. And even if we were getting the game 4 weeks later, I think it would be impossible to escape the news of a character like Megaman being in it.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm angry as the next that this will be delayed.

I'm probably the only one who is not bothered by this.

The reason? I don't have a Wii yet and there's still quite a few PS3 games that I want, so this will make it easier for me to be able to get a Wii for SSBB
