In terms of hardware sales, the Wii managed to re-take the hardware lead handily at 519,000 units sold, bringing its US sales total to 5,038,685. Xbox 360 was the next next-gen console, selling 366,000 to bring it past the seven million mark total (7,092,151). The PlayStation 3 continued to struggle, and sold 121,000 to bring it's US total to 1,980,649.
October was a four week reporting period compared to five weeks for September, and as a result, sales dropped for the month in absolute terms to US$643.3 million from September's $778.7 million. However, 2007 sales continues to go from strength to strength in the US, with year to date industry sales up 73% compared to the same period in 2006.
