Okami Wii to be a carbon copy of the PS2 version

Wii News | No new content, according to Ready At Dawn.
Earlier this week we brought you the news that Okami, the successful PS2 adventure game from now-defunct Clover Studio, would be brought to the Nintendo Wii. The game appears to be a perfect fit for Nintendo's console, with paintbrush-like controls and a Zelda style play.

In an interview with IGN, Didier Malenfant from Ready at Dawn (the company responsible for the game's migration) has stated that the Wii version of the game will feature no new content, and will be "an exact port of the PS2 version."

Malenfant argued, "This game has such a huge following throughout the world that people would probably send us death-threats if we messed it up by trying to add things that don't have their place in the Okami universe." However, motion controls will still be applied to the game, with Malenfant suggesting the Wii integration is so perfect that "people will be shocked when they try it for themselves."

Having never played the PS2 game, this doesn't bother me icon_smile.gif

Though if you have already played it, not much point buying it again for Wii controls. The game didnt sell a hell of a lot anyway, so it's great to see it reached to more people.

Exactly. It was highly unnoticed on the PS2 hence the Wii port will simply serve to get the game out to people who haven't played it before, not those who want to play through it again after playing the PS2 version.

Considering how packed full of content the PS2 game was, I don't think this should bother anyone.

To this day I still haven't completed the game because sincerely it I believe the game doesn't actually end, rather it keeps going on and on and on and on and on...

Essentially just like RE4Wii.

So they're gonna let you draw with the wiimote, right?
That was the only thing I didn't like about Okami, trying to draw little bombs and stuff with the tiny thumbstick, especially the dreaded Konohana shuffle, I spent forever on that one.

Capoeira, it took me about 40 hours to finish, but it was well worth it, the ending was really satisfying, it did look like they were leaving it open for a sequel, now sadly never to be...

Yeah, that seems to be the usual time span most normal people need to finish the game. I don't know how you guys did it. I must have put about double that into the game so far... I don't know how that happened! I really don't. It doesn't even seem possible given the average game length icon_dumb.gif

Perhaps I zoned out for hours at a time while playing the game. Maybe went into a sort of game induced trance that lasted days. Whatever it was, I grew frustrated with the game's severe lack of ending and simply gave up.

So basically, chance of me picking this game up for the Wii? Slim to none. Great for those who missed out the first time though. Plus there's waggle! Also possible widescreen, 480p and reduced price, if the past is any indication. Not bad if Capcom can deliver.

given the PS2 version was released at a budget price, i wonder if they'll charge full price for this version?
