New information on Link's Crossbow Training

Wii News | More fun than an arrow through the face?
Nintendo of America has sent out a release this morning which provides new details on the recently announced Link's Crossbow Training, the pack-in game for the soon-to-be-released Wii Zapper add-on.

Link's Crossbow Training will include three basic gameplay modes, with 27 stages in all (presumably 9 per game mode). These modes are target shooting, defender and ranger. Target shooting will have players shooting bull's-eyes on targets as they appear on the screen, with more points awarded for hitting the centre of a target and achieving consecutive bull's-eyes. Defender will see Link fighting off hordes of enemies as they storm in for the attack. Enemies and the defensive situation will vary greatly, from fighting off skeletons in the desert, to protecting a wagon from attacking Bokoblins on mounts. Finally, the ranger mode is a reversal of the defender mode, with Link on the attack, storming through enemy encampments, defeating all enemies in his path.

The focus of each play mode is on getting a high score. Link's Crossbow Training supports up to four players, but only in a take-turns style of play. Still, the game should prove a worthy diversion for those looking to pick up the Wii Zapper this November.

The game modes actually don't sound too bad. I would have assumed that they wouldn't have included that much in the game. So I guess it soundsa little more promising now.

Arcade action + new peripheral + Zelda TP theme = probably alright

You can get the Wii Zapper packed with one of (or more?) the upcoming on-rail shooters this year, correct? The SEGA game or RE does I remember reading (maybe both but I really can't remember off hand) so this game only comes with the Zapper on it's own then?

If so that seems good enough reason to get the shooter game with 1 Zapper + this pack for a 2nd one so you and a friend can blow through all the shooters that are coming! Even though Wii Play pretty much sucks it was still good considering you needed another Wiimote anyway - hopefully this will be similar!

The games that officially support it so far are: Zelda Crossbow Training, RE:UC, Ghost Squad and Medal of Honour Heroes.

In Japan, RE and GS can be bought with or without the Zapper.

And of course Ghost Squad is an '08 release out here.

Hope they do that here

This Crossbow Training a sign of missed opportunity as far as I'm concerned. That would have been PERFECT for a Wiimake of Duck Hunt

You can't officially support a game with a peripheral, any game that uses the Wii as a cursor could use it... (referring to joejoe's post)
