Sin and Punishment coming to PAL Virtual Console

Wii News | Confirmed by the OLFC in Australia.
It began with the PC Engine (Turbografx) game Battle Lode Runner being released outside Japan for the first time on the VC. Later, Turbografx games were released in Australia, where the console had never before seen the light of day. And now, many retro fans dreams have come true - the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) has updated their website, and it reveals that the previously Japan-only Nintendo 64 classic Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth has been rated 'M' for release in Australia. The game was submitted for rating by Nintendo themselves, and has already been released on the Japanese VC.

Created by renowned software house Treasure, Sin and Punishment is considered by many to be one of the N64's best games, and is certainly one of the best to not be released outside the console's native land. Featuring very impressive graphics for the system, many fans wondered why it was never released on the original hardware, given most of the game is already in English.

We've no idea when exactly the game will hit the download service, but we'll keep you updated on any new information about the game's release.

Awesome, awesome news. Nintendo have been a bit down with the fans lately, so good to see them doing something for the average gamer. I never really had that much interest in this game, but will buy out of principal.

Great news for us Aussies. Heard alot of good things about this game so it'll be a must download once it's released on the VC

I'll get this for sure, it looked so awesome, such a shame it never released outside of Japan, especially since it would have been so easy to do so, it already had English voice acting, with Japanese subtitles! Great to see VC games now reaching never before released games icon_smile.gif

What is truly refreshing is seeing that Nintendo haven't allowed Virtual Console to slip into a gimmick. They are truly bringing out the true premise of the feature - games from the past that people cherish (regardless of region). I hope to God that NeoGeo will see release in PAL territories. Now if only they would add Master System support, my life would be complete..

I don't see why not icon_smile.gif we have TurboGrafx here already, so I'd say previously unreleased content on VC systems worldwide is pretty much a given, the only question is when.. ?

Speaking of unreleased content, it would be so awesome if the SNES Fire Emblem games made it to the VC, they are already out in Japan, but I guess the issue with these games is the translation required, so it makes it a more difficult task to bring these games over. Sin & Punishment was already in English essentially making its release rather easy.

Obviously whether games like Fire Emblem will release on VC, will depend on whether benefits of releasing the game outweigh the costs of translation and the like, clearly that depends on how succesful the VC is .. So yeah people do your bit download the unreleased games, to ensure more difficult ones will come too! icon_biggrin.gif
