Wii update prevents use of Freeloader?

Wii Rumour | Sorry, import fans.
According to gaming blog, Kotaku, the latest Wii update seems to be circumventing the use of the Freeloader - the third-party disc that allows users to play imported GameCube games. Nintendo has made no comments regarding the issue, nor listed any security measures in the details of the update, so it's unsure whether this is intentional or not.

The Freeloader has been available for purchase legally for a number of years, and only the newer versions of the device have been able to be used to boot GameCube games on the Wii console (it cannot be used to play imported Wii games).

If anyone had bothered to look, someone mentioned this in the thread attached to the update article.

EDIT: It was Retroman. I thought I remembered him saying his didn't work, but he just mentions it.

It appears that if you say how you feel about this subject - someone comes along and deletes your post.

So I ask you to simply imagine the most foul Jolley Roger like thoughts and multiply by a strength of a billion and you have my thoughts on this matter.

Please PM me and notify as to the reasons for such sensorship.
