Nintendo continues to dominate UK

Wii News | 8/10 ain't bad.
Nintendo's domination of the UK apparently continues unabated. Gamasutra reports that the latest UK top ten sales figures show an amazing seven first-party exclusive Nintendo games in the top ten, with with an additional third-party Wii/DS exclusive game making the tenth position. In total, eight of the top ten games are exclusive to Nintendo's DS and Wii platforms.

The only two exceptions were Transformers: The Game, currently at number 1, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at number 4, both movie tie-ins heavily driven by current box office releases.

Pokemon Diamond saw a 20% decline in sales from the previous week, moving it and Pokemon Pearl to numbers two and three, respectively. Combined, they would have easily taken the top spot. Mario Party 8, having finally been released after being recalled due to a poor choice in wording, is the only new entrant, coming in at number 9.

Other Wii games in the top ten include Wii Play at number 5 and Big Brain Academy at number 7. The brain-training DS fills out the remainder, with More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima at number 6 and Dr Kawashima's Brain Training at number 8. Finally, the number 10 position is held by Cooking Mama, available on both DS and Wii.

The only truly new game in the top forty was apparently Sony's Singstar '90s, at number 32. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, while new to the top forty as a platform title at number 26, has previously been included as a GameCube and PlayStation 2 title.
