Paper Mario hits the Virtual Console

Wii News | Aussies get it first.
It may be E3 but it seems somebody at Nintendo Australia stayed behind to flick the switch on several new games for the Virtual Console.

The Virtual Console has been updated with one Nintendo 64 title and three Turbografx-16 titles. Paper Mario is now available and costs 1000 points, Chew Man Fu, Double Dungeons and New Adventure Island are also all available now and cost 600 points. Paper Mario was the very last title released for the Nintendo 64 and is a tough game to find online, so at 1000 points it is very good value.

Wow, that came out of nowhere! Awesome, I'll be grabbing Paper Mario for sure. Have always wanted to play it but never been willing to pay the price for it on eBay.

Europe's Turbografix game for this week is apparently called Air "Zonk".

I've been wanting Paper Mario for ages since I didn't have an N64 and getting a copy of Thousand Year Door could take almost as long.

uMM hELL nO!!! If anything it will improve your experience with the wii version because you'll be able to appreciate all the upgrades/improvements.

Honestly man if there was 1 game that holds up on the N64 after all these years it's Paper Mario!

Looks like Nintendo are finally giving us reason to pay attention to the virtual console again. Hopefully this influx of games keeps coming and we receive at least one quality title per week.

I got it, took a bit long to download. I am still trying to get used to the classic controller since it has N64 Control displayed in the game. Never played a Paper Mario game before, but I am loving it.

is it non-hardcore J-rpg friendly?

Adventure Island? any good?

Can anyone who's got it fill us in on the port? Hell anyone who had the original probably can. Is it full of PAL-slowdown and borders? I do expect it is but i'd LOVE to hear otherwise.

Sorry what? Play it on the N64 instead of the Virtual Console. Is that your point. Since you're likely to pay $100 for an original copy vs. what $30 for an identical game (without rumble in an RPG OH NOES), I see no point to buying a dead console and a dusty game.

I will be getting this game, but I might wait until I actually finish the games I have to finish at the moment.

F**k yeah.
I've been regretting not buying Paper Mario for $20 at Big W at the end of the 64's life for years now, but now I'll be able to forget it and actually own it! I know how awesome this game is, I played it at a mates place once and I nearly stabbed him so I could take it home.
Have to get wireless soon then I spose, Sunday sounds good... then there's the Classic Controller... points cards... its going to be just as expensive as buying it off Ebay lol..

All N64 games have been converted well on VC. None have borders. All have better framerates and vastly increased resolution. And Paper Mario was converted well originally. So there's very little chance this will be done badly.

Basically only Mega Drive and 3rd party NES games have the PAL conversion problem on VC, everything else is fine.
