Pre E3 2007: Motion sensing confirmed for LEGO Star Wars Wii

Wii News | "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine."
A few weeks ago, we reported that LucasArts president, Jim Ward, had let slip that the company had been working on a lightsaber game for Wii. We speculated that it was probably LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga after Ward commented that Wii owners would be able to get their hand on the final product by the end of the year.

According to an article on CVG, it has been confirmed that the game is indeed LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and that motion sensing will be featured in the Wii version. The Wii remote will apparently be used to mimick lightsaber movement and can even be used to reflect enemy fire as apposed to pressing and holding a button. Meanwhile, force-powers will be implemented by holding down the Z button on the Nunchuck while the Wii remote is used to direct it.

For the non-force sensitive characters, the Z button on the Nunchuck will also be used to build machinery from LEGO bricks while moving the Wii remote up and down will speed up the character's movements. Likewise, the same Wii remote movement is used to switch between a gun-character's gun and grappling hook when they are, presumably, standing on a grappling hook pad.

While it definitely isn't a Jedi Knight-style game, it is sounding fairly promising but we'll wait until we get our hands on the title before passing final judgement on the motion-sensing side of the game.

I played these games and they were amazingly fun. Will be awesome on the Wii.

*sigh*

this better be only the beginning of Lightsaber games on the Wii.
sure - Lego Star Wars is awesome, but i really want to be playing a "proper" Jedi Knight (or Sith Knight) game with the waggle-stick.

the system seems made for it - seriously, there won't be a single 30-40 year old male without a Wii if a proper Lightsaber game was made.

I'd consider this as: we're not sure if we can pull off a big/major/mature/whatever lightsaber game the first time so we're trying out something smaller.

Seriously though, I'd have some concern if LucasArts only spent 1 year on a lightsaber game for Wii.

Lightsaber controls vs online play in the PS3 and 360 versions. ...hmmm. Difficult decision.

I apologise if I don't fall off my chair in excitement. I highly doubt this will have 1:1 saber mapping. The train to Waggle-ville is now boarding...

It will be waggle as crest said. The game wasn't exactly made for Wii. Wait for, hopefully, a proper one.
