Pre E3 2007: Jenga announced for the Wii and DS

Wii News | Yes, the wooden block tower game.
Atari has announced via a press release that they're bringing Jenga to the Wii and the Nintendo DS. Jenga for the Wii and the Nintendo DS is based on the wooden block tower building game.

“Fans of the Jenga family of games will fall in love with this exciting brand all over again,” said Jeremiah Cohn, senior product manager, Atari, Inc. “We are thrilled to deliver this timeless and renowned game with new variations and surprises for the Nintendo DS and Wii.”

With the Wii version you'll need to use the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk to keep the Jenga tower from falling, whilst on the Nintendo DS version you'll use the touch screen. First images for the title can be found in our media panel.

Thrilled? Really?

Looks like it doesn't take much to rile up thems excitable folk at Atari. Careful you don't mention Boggle around them, they just might have a seizure.

Oh god, please don't let this mean the revival of that stupid american jenga ad we were subjected too a few years back, you know, the one with the dumb kids dancing around the jenga tower like idiots.

This crosses the line between games that are more fun as videogames and games that are more fun in real life.

Except replace 'fun' with 'tolerable'.

And 'real life' with 'unfortunate circumstances'.

What is the point of anyone buying this icon_confused.gif The real version is cheaper, more interactive, has way better graphics, but someone will still buy it for $90 probably. Idiots. Unless it has online play or something, but it would still be rubbish.

With this exciting news slipping through early, will there be anything left for E3?

I recall reading the idea of Jenga Wii on some article (as a joke iirc), now it's reality.
Complete with coffee table and lounge... I can see many family falling for this game.

I can sort of understand the Wii version (Wii-mote moves in 3D space) (not that I want it, I can just see where they may be coming from), but a DS version would be really pushing it. The interactivity is on a 2D plane... doesn't really lend itself to Jenga.
