Nintendo adds one to this week’s VC

Wii News | Plus the usual Turbografx game for Europe.
Nintendo has today updated its Virtual Console service with the addition of the NES classic, Megaman.

Megaman for the NES is notorious for its hideous NTSC boxart (the PAL verison was okay), though besides that, the game is a great tough nut to crack. For its VC release it’ll set you back 500 points. And for any European readers – you’ve also got the choice of the Turbografx’s China Warrior.

What a week!

Even though I have other things to play, I feel I should add this to my VC list none-the-less. It'll go well with the other past favourites I barely touch.

This is a cool adition as I have noticed a lot of people on this forum love megaman, I havent really played the megaman series but have had a copy of he 10th anniversary collection on gamecube for i don't remember how long, now might be the perfect time to join my online peers in playing and learn to share the love of the aptly named blue bomber.

Sorry, but WTF is going on above? Another user just said that exact same thing, and now its replaced with Jibbs icon_confused.gif.

Anyway, I've never played a Megaman game but will definitely be picking this one up, or downloading, same thing.

Best box-art EVER!

Have to agree with Mark, that is one of the worst box arts I've seen.

That's the US box, the PAL box is much better:

I reckon capcom designed the US box before making the game. Maybe they wanted him to be like robocop since he has a gun.

Thanks for posting the box art. Was wondering what they looked like when it was mentioned in the article.

The US Art makes him look like an old man!

The 80s was a macho time for video games and a time for leather clad men with whips(castlevania).
Now video games are femmie(castlevania icon_razz.gif)

Did anyone have it say that it wasn't going to take up any room on the Wii just before downloading?

It actually did take up room, but I'm thinking that if it does this again when the memory is near full, it could do some damage, maybe?

Anyway, I just beat Cutman and got pwned on Gutsman's level (Stupid gaps in rails...)

I'm not sure what's worse the game or the box art. I've always hated the Mega Man games.

Box art was what sold games back in the day. I find them cool, though in this case (NTSC) not so cool.....

I love the MegaMan series and its damn hard. Consider yourself a good gamer if u can pass this title. Personally, MegaMan is a great series but MegaMan X is better. Can't wait (yeh ill have to obviously, figure of speech/term of phrase) for that SNES release.

and i know Square Enix said they didnt have intentions to put their games on VC but was this just for the Final Fantasy series? Because Chrono Trigger would be great!!!!

I'm pretty sure they've always made a point to mention backlog of their games whenever that question came up Jecht. In the case of Chrono Trigger it wasn't originally released in Europe, and presumably Australia, so the likelihood of it appearing on the PAL Wii VC list is slim to none until Nintendo change their stance.

As for Megaman; pass, X is a much more enjoyable series, and it's fun to play. icon_shifty.gif

I am sick of NES games... they are cool to relive the experience, but I always get bored after about 3.7 seconds and wonder why I downloaded them in the first place..... They don't age well.

N64 games didn't age well either. SNES (and the Megadrive) is where its at.

That is correct, PAL got Terranigma while the US got Chrono Trigger
