Project H.A.M.M.E.R cancelled?

Wii Rumour | A quiet cancellation?

IGN is reporting that Project H.A.M.M.E.R - the Wii action title that debuted at E3 in 2006 - has quietly been cancelled by Nintendo.

According to IGN, sources claim that the team who were working on the title are now underway with "one or more efforts that fall into the expanded audience lineup of games." Nintendo of America are yet to comment.

Project H.A.M.M.E.R put players in the role of a half-man and half-machine fighter who could kill any enemies with his giant hammer. Nintendo hasn't said much about Project H.A.M.M.E.R since the debut last year. We're likely to find out either way at E3 next month.

sheesh - I thought nintendo said that they WEREN'T going to neglect more serious gamers... pity, I was looking forward to this...

Not happy Jan if this is true. I was looking forward to this and the last thing we need is a reduced lineup for the Wii.

Indeed, I was looking foward to Disaster Day of Crisis more then Project H.A.M.M.E.R, but was anticipating seeing some new first party IPs.

There was the rumour in the Nintendo rumour thread that it had been renamed M-09, which is quite a bit easier to type

But as Retroman said, wait for TGS or E3 for to confirm.

If Nintendo make crazy profits from "expanded audience" titles, then of course they're going to concentrate on them (with the exception of the usual franchises).

@A13x: yeah i hope that rumour (i heard about and posted) is true, it is easier to type, but if it is called M-09 i wonder how much of the game may be changed?

I was quite looking forward to some new IP's also
