Pilotwings Wii on the way?

Wii Rumour | Online retailer yet again lists an unannounced game.
As we awoke this morning, dreading returning to work after the Queen's Birthday long weekend fiesta, a mysterious listing on American online retailer, GameStop, caught our eye.

The listing details that a new Pilotwings game is in development for the Wii and even goes as far to give the title a releases date of December 31st this year and a price of US $49.99. Before you go celebrating though, GameStop also state on the very same page that "official pricing and release dates have not been announced by the publisher. Price and release date listed are estimates only and subject to change." In other words, we won't be getting it for quite sometime, at least for the foreseeable future.

Previously, GameStop listed the Wii version of Resident Evil 4 weeks before it was officially announced by Capcom. With this in mind, it is looking like we can expect an official announcement at E3 later this year.

Wasn't it shown as one of the games during their big E3 last year?

You could be thinking of Wii areoplan (which will be released as part of Wii Motor Sports if rumours are true) or Wing Island.

There have been other rumours in relation to Pilotwings being shown at the Nintendo media conferance a while back though.

Man, people thought Pilotwings on the N64 was great because of the analogue control, Pilotwings on the Wii would have heaps more potential to be something fantastic.

Yeah, that was Wii Aeroplane which is going to be in Wii Motorsports. It looks better then Wing Island that's for sure.

Really? I thought there was just one about Factor 5 making it (which won't happen now)

Sorry, my mistake. The Nintendo Media summit rumours were to do with Mario Kart, the big 3 and other titles. I don't know why I thought pilotwings was in that list.

I can remember that factor five rumour too. It came just after Rebel Strike was released and everyone was questioning Factor 5's next ninty project... as it turned out Rebel Strike was, at least for the time being, Factor 5's last Ninty project.

This sounds good - Pilotwings is one of those Shiggy games that looked nice & colorful on the N64 - it's the kind of game that should look at home on the Wii and no doubt the attention to quality will be there.

Pilotwings is not the only SNES/N64 title that would be fantastic to continue on the Wii - problem is at least three of the games I'd love to see are by RARE. The other game I think would look fantastic on Wii is Odin Sphere - superb high quality 2D would be a natural for the Wii.

I love this game on the N64. I think with the Wii it could be a hit, if they nail the controls it could be an amazing experience.
