Capcom working on Killer7 Wii remake

Wii Rumour | Hard-edged horror-adventure game to receive waggle support?
According to a listing on the official Capcom of Europe website, Grasshopper’s unique horror-adventure game Killer7 may be receiving a Wii remake.

Killer7 was originally released in 2005 on the GameCube and PlayStation 2, and even received a deserving 8.0 when we reviewed it. The remake would be a surprisingly good fit for the Wii, partly due to Killer7’s on-rails gameplay.

The listing isn’t at all surprising considering that Capcom has already developed a Wii remake for the successful Resident Evil 4, which was also originally released on the GameCube and PlayStation 2.

If the rumour turns out true then expect the inevitable P.N.03 and Viewtiful Joe Wii remakes soon after.

AWESOME!!! I actually own this game (on gamecube) but i've never played it cuz I didn't think the controls sound too good but lately i've been wanting to play it but haven't been able to cuz of a lack of time.....but this Wii remake might just be the thing to get me into it. From the sounds of it it seems more suited to Wii controls and hopefully there will be some other upgrades (better graphics? please?).

Capcom are certainly cashing in on the success of the Wii by wii-releasing/working existing titles like RE and now this

Hahaha wii-releasing that's a good one. icon_lol.gif

I do think this is quite....lame. The only developers I can think of who are treating the Wii properly is Nintendo, Rockstar and Konami. Everyone else sucks.

its a getting a bit stale this old remake, port business. IF they arent going to release new games, then at least make sequels etc, or if they are rereleased, make them a budget price. I dont want to look back at the end of this generation and see a wii lineup that is exactly the same as the gamecube lineup from the generation before.

I have to admit it is kinda excessive....with games like Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider being ported to it, but I honestly think games which benefit from the inclusion of the wiimote's aiming are justified. These games include Resident Evil 4, Batallion Wars and now Killer 7. And yea I know i'm a Capcom fan but that's got nothing to do with it. Both those Capcom games are designed for a fps/3rd person style aiming so the wiimote's aiming is kinda perfect for it. Even games like Twilight Princess aren't as suited to the wiimote as some of these games are. With Batallion Wars I know 1st hand how clunky and horrible the controls are when you try and use a pad and I think the wiimote is the closest console controller you will get to a mouse so I think it suits Batallion Wars fine.

I am against ports and remakes but not when the games are better for it because the old controls were too clunky or not suited to the controller. So with Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia the controls were fine to begin with but with Killer 7 I heard the controls weren't really the best. I have to admit Resident Evil 4's controls were perfect but I can see how wiimote aiming would make it smoother and earsier....so that is an upside.

i quite liked killer7's Gamecube controls, they took some getting used to, being on rails and all, but they suited the game.

however, i can really see the controls getting even better through the Wii. the game is already essentially a light-gun game already, except it used a control stick, so actually having a light-gun for it should be bliss.

Cool news. I can see it working but I already own the game. I don't need it again. We'll see what else they add to it other than waggle support and maybe, maybe I'll consider it.

This news did make me wonder if Okami was up next for the port treatment. Of all the games Capcom have released of late, that just seems like the bleedingly obvious choice for the Wii's control scheme. It could give the game a second chance of life, given it's rather abysmal commercial reception. At least I'm assuming it was abysmal. Most games that look like Okami and not, 'Bald-Space-Marine-Who-Says-'Sh!t'' don't hold up too well in retail.

well, if ubisoft are going port games that are less than two years old, then so can capcom!

and yeah, it controlled fine on the cube....i don't see how it's really going to benefit on the wii anyway

still....nice that capcom still know how to make a quick buck

I don't know why, the game bombed. But it is a cool, twisted game.

K7 is amazing... and so well suited to wii. Since there seems to be nothing on the horizon to even illicit excitement I wouldn't mind playing some of these classics again... maybe a wiimake of the never maked dead phoenix?

The New ad for the Wii..

DO you want something new, with fresh new ideas for games, great graphics and reaosn to play them? Then don't get the Wii, there's nothing but ports on it.

Uh-ohs... icon_sad.gif

Apparently this game ISN'T coming to the Wii but was just a mistake Capcom made on their website.

Sharp-eyed browsers of the website may have noticed that the Killer 7 gamesheet was showing a Wii symbol yesterday. We are sorry to disappoint Killer 7 fans who thought this meant a Wii version might be on the horizon, but we can confirm that there are currently no plans for a Killer 7 version for the Wii platform.

The Wii symbol was due to testing on our test realm somehow making its way across to the actual site; the Killer 7 gamesheet is one of the 'sandbox' ones we use to test new things such as, for instance, ensuring that the Wii symbol looks the right size next to the ones we use for PS2, Gamecube etc before we put it live.

The interest this seems to have generated on the internet is quite gratifying, but we're going to have to disappoint you this time. The innovative control system of the Wii would seem like a good match for the innovative gameplay of Killer 7 and we cannot completely rule out the idea of a Killer 7 Wii at some point in the future. However we can confirm that there are no plans at the present time to make such a game and there is certainly not one in the pipeline that we are not telling you about.

Sorry for the confusion.
Damn... way to get our hopes up icon_razz.gif.

Awwwwwwwwww.... I got really excited for a sec there. icon_sad.gif Didn't rule it out completely though... this is one of those absolutely-must-preorder-and-stalk-until-it's-released games me thinks.

Yaaaaaaay!(read: Wiiiiiiiiiii!)

Gotta love capcom 5 .... they remininded us that the cube was not a kids only system ... I would be interested to see what they could do with VJ if they thought about Wiimaking it ... and I don't see PNO3 happening any time soon

that's a shame. but this has made me think about taking out the old gamecube copy and give it a go...
I currently have a borrowed copy of the game from a member of these forums who hardly visits here anymore (Civ, for those who didn't assume) on the Gamecube but I am still yet to actually play it. Mainly due to the 360. icon_wink.gif

From the videos that I have seen of this game in action though, yes indeed it would suit the Wii and its controller so it's a shame that this isn't really coming. I do have to say though that it wouldn't surprise me if it did, purely to garner attention to No More Heroes when that game is closer to release. If I'm not mistaken, both games are done by the same team.

Anyway, bummer that it isn't true. Whether it does happen or not though doesn't really matter to me because I already have the chance to play this game. I've just gotta get off my rear end and actually do it.
