Metroid Prime 3 gets US release date

Wii News | August for the Yanks, but when will we get it?
While PAL gamers still patiently await an announcement regarding the local release of Super Paper Mario (already tearing up the sales charts in both the US and Japan), the US is already getting Q3 game announcements, including one of the 'big 3' - Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, which has been confirmed for an August 20 US release date.

Luckily for us, apart from the infamous three-month delay of the original Metroid Prime, the Metroid series has generally been released to PAL territories in good time, with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes arriving within two weeks of its US debut. And with less text to translate into multiple languages then SPM, we're hoping Metroid gets released here before it's buried in the fourth quarter release deluge (not to mention a certain game by Bungie).

Many other games were also given dates in the press release, here's a full list of the announcements:

Hopefully, Q3 announcements from Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Australia aren't too far behind. Or Super Paper Mario, for that matter.

Never really thought it would be that close but here's hoping we don't have to wait for a xmas release

Now that is welcomed news! I was getting kind of worried the drought would not break until this time next year (or worst). Just need another two or three solid titles for Wii to come in during 07 and I'll be content.

Things are starting to look good for the Wii. Strikers out next month. SPM still to come and mario party aswell. BW2 looks like it might be out this year and brawl or galaxy to come at christmas if prime doesnt get pushed back here till then.

Galaxy is almost certain to be released in PAL territories this year. It's being released in October/November in Japan and a typical Mario platformer doesn't have too much text to read. I think Sunshine was released world wide within a month.

Brawl is what is worrying me to be honest. That is easily my most anticipated game of the year, if it's delayed I won't be a happy at all.

My thoughts are that Metroid will be out August in Aus. and then Mario will be out in November/December and Smash Bros. will be out sooner rather than later, probably around June/July.

That gives a good spread with SSB, Metroid, Batallion Wars then Mario in one year!

^ You actually think Smash Bros. will be released in Australia within 1-5 weeks???!?!?!

Why not? I know its Nintendo, but Smash is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig. They'll want it soon.

^ I cannot think of a single game (Nintendo or otherwise) that has been released within 5 weeks of the release date being announced.

And we haven't even had an announcement!!

EDIT: actually, maybe the Sega Saturn. icon_smile.gif

^Yeah, no way Smash will be out before November, no way. It's the biggest game of the three (remember Melee sold as many copies as Halo 1), so it will get Prime holiday position.

At this point if a game is delayed until 2008 I'd expect it would be Galaxy, but I think Smash November Galaxy December is most likely.

I can't see Brawl falling behind, I don't think they are reinventing the wheel or adding online support.

But they are adding online support.

Galaxy, Smash, Metroid in 07 will do me.
I'm probably the only one who is interested in this one, but what's the story with DK Bongo Blast is it still happening? I thought this would be ready already.

Online support from Brawl has been mentioned since Iwata's coming out of "Revolution"

They just never really mentioned online support for Corruption which is a big mistake if they leave that out

Oh, I thought you meant within 5 weeks of the US release. Yeah June / July is ridiculously farfetched.
