Tomb Raider Anniversary coming to Wii

Wii News | More Lara.
Eidos has confirmed to IGN that Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Anniversary will be coming to the Wii.

"The Wii is a hugely innovative games console and we wanted to make a special version of Anniversary to appeal to Wii owners," said Kathryn Clements, senior brand manager for Tomb Raider at Eidos. "The Wii Remote and nunchuk controllers allow Wii gamers to control Lara in brand new, unique ways, and there are plenty of new features, to be revealed soon, which will ensure Anniversary really hits the spot - literally."

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Anniversary will feature Wii-specific controls, though Eidos hasn't elaborated on any other differences between the Wii version and the PS2 and PSP editions. The title is scheduled for release later in the year.

So we have decided to port a previous gen's compilation of outdated games with tacked on Wii controls.

Is amazing how blase companies are about being so lazy! For christ's sake....make something new! It can't be that hard...especially when the controller is almost like nothing thats been used before. Give me another 100 Elebit games....but no more frickin' ports of last gen games! ARRGGHHH!!!! How frustrating!

Please Nintendo....just give these devs some training on how to innovate a lil' bit! PLEASE!

^ yeah same old sh!t getting re-released. To make Lara do a roundhouse kick, waggle the controller. icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't think they actually "get" the Wii. They need to change the fundamentals of the game mechanics if the Wiimote is to make a difference.

to be honest, we are still waiting for Nintendo to show us the Wiimote in full flight. Zelda didn't show it.

The best example of a "new" game is Eledees. Go Konami.

I have to agree with Luke there....Wii bowling really (and I mean REALLY) opened up my eyes to the possibilities of the Wiimote. Some of the tricks and spins you could do to control the ball was mind boggling....it really felt like real bowling and it felt like I had an infinite degree of control over the ball. Also Raving Rabbids had some fun creative ways of using it.

It was really only Zelda that irked me a bit because I thought the controls were made a bit more cumbersome compared to the original....they worked....i just thought the original was more responsive.

Basically i've come to the conclusion that any game that is actually developed from the ground up with the wiimote in mind actually work very well whereas ports and remakes tend to fall flat. So in other words....stuff from EA and Ubisoft is crap and stuff from Capcom and Nintendo are awesome. icon_wink.gif

Wii Sports definately shows the accuracy of the Wiimote (top spin ftw) but i meant implementing it into less of a.... "party-esque" game.

It should breed a new species of games. Eledees is only the real example I can think of.

Apparently PangYa (despite looking weird) plays brilliant (Tiger Woods on Wii sucks). I personally would like a pool game where it handles like Billiards on Wii Play only with tons of options that most pool games have.

EDIT: and Ugh, by your theory where does that put RE4 icon_lol.gif for the record I liked Rayman

Maybe they could add "spanking" Lara as an option? That would sell icon_wink.gif.

Could you imagine a Leisure Suit Larry game for the Wii!!! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

^ geez it's not that funny! icon_eek.gif

Leisure Suit Larry is shadow of his former self anyways....I don't see his latest games being any good/better.

What we need is another Fear Effect/Retro Helix with Wii type controls.

We all know developers are just cashing in on the popularity of the Wii. Give the Wii time, big games will come.

Just remember this - THE PS3 HAS **** GAMES TOO!

At least I got to play Zelda on the Wii.

Where the hell did the PS3 comment come from? And nobody is attacking the Wii in this thread.

Woo, ports. Great.

Bring on new games. GOOD new games.

Yeah, poor joke. Console games don't have graphics settings.

That's looks more DS-like.

Seems like I'm the only one glad about thing. The last tomb raider was fantastic on the 360 so I was pretty disappointed when this was announced as PS2/PSP only. As long as the wii controls are up to scratch I'll be picking this one up

I still have (in good condition mind you) the original Tomb Raider on the Saturn.

Im not saying I dont like Tomb Raider, just disappointed we are only getting re-hashed crap for the Wii rather than an original title

Are these screens legit or what, Taco??

Your joking right...

Will someone get me some stitches, i think iv split my sides.

Well, seeing as they're from two different sites and have two differing graphical qualities (neither of which look remotely like the new engine) I'd say no. Looks to be screens of the PC/PSX versions of 1 and 2.

Hey, they weren't that different from those Godfather (?) screenies a few months ago. icon_razz.gif

You really should have added the mandatory ' icon_razz.gif ' icon if you were going to jest.
