Ghost Squad announced for Wii

Wii News | Who ya gonna call?
SEGA has announced today that they will be bringing Ghost Squad to the Wii. For those of you that haven’t been to the arcades in recent years, Ghost Squad was a popular "on-rails" gun game which allowed players to choose multiple routes through each level.

In Ghost Squad, players are part of the Global Humanitarian-Operation and Special Tactics Squad (a.k.a Ghost Squad), which is composed of the world's top military personnel. Their ultimate goal is to put an end to terrorist group plots which have thrown the world into chaos.

The Wii version will apparently feature several exclusive gameplay modes, including training, four-player multiplayer and arcade mode. The Wii remote will also be used to disarm bombs and rescue hostages, as well as simulate 25 weapons, including machine guns, pistols and even a crossbow.

"Ghost Squad brings the classic light gun blaster experience that SEGA made popular in the arcades to the Wii," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing at SEGA America. "With a more robust multiplayer experience than even the arcade version and numerous unlockable items and stages adding replay value, Ghost Squad will be the ultimate shooter experience for the Nintendo Wii console."

Ghost Squad is scheduled for release around Christmas this year. We’ll report back once more info becomes available.

Haha, I haven't played the game, I just meant in the general theme of the Ghostbusters concept. The title of this new game is both misleading and disappointing.

Wow! What system was that Ghostusters engrish from?

As for Ghost Squad.. I played this once at the arcades and it was great fun. It was oozing that spec ops feel. I hope they release a super ass kicking Wiimote attachment for it to make it look like a mini SCAR-L or G36C..

(Wishful thinking, I know)..

Anyways back on topic. I am looking forward to a light gun game, but I am disappointed it is not House of the Dead

I'm curious about this one.
Looks like it could be fun - arcade games tend to be quite fun.

With light-gun style games like this and a 'Metal Slug Anthology', the Wii is shaping up to have a very arcade feel to it, and with the VC, a very retro feel.

I like that... I really like that.
