Impossible Mission to hit Wii Shop Channel

Wii News | PALGN confirms.
According to the latest issue of the Nintendo Power (Ninty's official magazine, remember), Impossible Mission is set to be the first non-retro game released on the Wii's Shop Channel.

The game itself is a remake of the Commodore 64 classic of the same name, and was announced earlier this year. In Impossible Mission, players infiltrate an evil professor's lair and collect pieces of passwords to gain access to inner chambers, all while avoiding his robots henchman and collecting various weapons and gadgets. Also included in the game is a "Retro mode", which will allow the old-school gamer within you to play the original.

It's currently unknown if the game will be available to all regions, yet given that the game is scheduled for a Q2-Q3 release this year on the PSP, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS, it's a fair assumption that we'll be hearing a confirmation on the matter shortly.

Update: PALGN Has an interview coming up with System 3 which confirms Impossible Mission will be hitting the Wii Shop Channel. Stay tuned later in the month for more on the game.

That's great. This is exactly what Nintendo should be tapping into.

Cant play them off the SD card, just store them and by that logic you may as well as delete them and re-download them at a later date when you want to play them

Yeah i am under the 200 blocks mark now I am starting to run out too

i wonder if "retro mode" will have fixed the bug that literally made Impossible Mission, impossible to finish?

exactly, I dont want to delete and reload games all the time, i want the convenince that almost every other console is currently providing, provdifing a download service that does not have the hardware to accept it is silly

I dont see them getting away without releasing a hard drive, or at least USB HDD compatible.

I now have 3 full screens too, time to just make a channel to put your VC titles into, make them available and playable via HDD or SD even. The games have DRM so its not like piracy is an issue.

That looks cool!

Hopefully Nintendo is working on a solution to the storage on the Wii.

Does Nintendo have there own "official" Wii SD cards? It seems strange for them to just go "get an SD card" if they don't support it really.

Impossible Mission shouldn't up take that much space anyways.

Ive seen them in promotional material before the Wii launched, but havent sighted one here in Perth. Im sure they are a contracted third part creation with the Nintendo stamp stickered all over them, ala Sony MemoryStick (actually made by SanDisk).

I loved this game on C64, I might get a Wii to play it on. I'm living in shared nurse's quarters atm, so I might actually buy a used wii for the whole social thing that everybody bangs on about.
